As horrible as it may sound, you can always try chewing on parsley.

    It does work.

Brill - I quite like it actually - and if it gives me confidence back in close proximity it will be great. Thanks - knew you'd have the answer!

What's wrong with sugar free gum? I have never had a problem with it.

Hehe! Just make sure you get all the parsley out from between your teeth first before you get too close.... Just messing with you.

make sure you count the carbs in your parsley too.

the sugar alcohols in the sugar free gum are the issue if you chew one piece all day you shouldn't havce any trouble but the folk who chew till flavor is gone and get a new piece are the ones who run into trouble. We had a memeber who was a DR Atkins patient who told us Dr Atkins solved his stall by telling him he was chewing too much gum.

              Re: Chewing Gum

The new Trident gums have xylitol instead of maltitol or other higher glycemic index sugar alcohols. I find I need gum to keep my mouth and throat moist when I take long drives or airplane rides, otherwise I get to coughing or get a sore throat, but I try to chew as few pieces as possible, maximum 3-4 per day since I count them as my sweetener for the day. I don't chew them at all when I'm not traveling, I choose to "spend" those sweetener allowances in better ways.

If you choose to chew gum, just make sure to choose them wisely. I found this incredibly helpful for learning which sugar alcohols to avoid more than others: http://www.mendosa.com/netcarbs.htm

What about breath strips? They have freshening power, that's for sure. And no carbs.

I agree and I have it occasionally. But sometimes I don't feel like all that chewing. (well, it's tiring, you know) And sometimes I have meetings and it's not appropriate to be chewing gum. That's when those breath strips come in handy.
