Detox pills?? HMM

Hey there!
I was wondering if anyone knows the effect of taking those detox pills that you can buy at health food stores and going induction? I wanted to start those detox pills to cleanse my colon and all that junk in my body ..i know i induction does that too somewhat..but i wanted to try both when i start induction again (right now or tomorrow)....thank you for any help you can give me...or comments...i really appreciate it !

I have no idea what detox pills are or what they contain, but if you want to really cleanse your colon take a handful of laxatives, that's a real colon cleanser! (Note: not actually a good idea, idea promoted for sarcasm purposes)

Wait until after you've finished induction to see if you still feel "detox" pills are necessary.

To detox and clear my colon i did this:

4 weeks of induction diet then...
4 weeks induction + no yeast, mould or fungus at the same time as
4 weeks pysliium husks
4 weeks pau d arco (3*500mg tea, 3*500 mg capsules)
4 weeks 3 tbsp per day aloe vera juice

Which I will follow with 4* per day proibiotics (lactobaccillius 2 billion each human strain) for a month.

Let you know how it turns out, but it all looks so far so good!

I've only ever seen detox pills in the UK. I tried to see how healthy they were but really couldn't find many studies done on them. I'd suggest just going through induction and then seeing if detoxing is really needed.

Look up reviews of a product called oxypowder (no not the laundry cleaner). I would try it on a weekend or whenever you have 48 hours to just sit around the house.

I agree with Heidi, this is NOT good for you!! The main point of Atkins is to be HEALTHY!!! The weight loss is just the wonderful side affect. Please, don't do this. Wait until your two weeks are over before you do anything like that. This will cleans your body on its own.

I've heard they actually do more harm than good..there is bacteria in your colon and digestive sysetme that is meant to be there..and doing these detox programs rids your body of these important bacteria and throws off the balance.

Make sure youre getting lots of fibre from your veggies, and/ or supplement with psyllium husks if you need to. a healthy diet should be enough.

But i'm with Heidi :

You can ask Gen. Arturo Enrile of the Armed Forces of the Philippines about colon cleansing. He's a known health buff so he should know.

He's dead.

He died of multiple organ failure from food poisoning. Unfortunately the colon cleansers he took got rid of the good bacteria that would have fought off infection.

b/c there are toxins,poisions,and backedup sludge that is slowly swelling,and eventually eating away at your intestins and eating its own good bacteria.Its stuck,its got to move.Junk food,fast food,soadas all this is bad and causes the mucus lining to dissapear this is why there are so many health problems,dieases

Personally I don't buy this...I think the companies that make these cleansers want you to believe this . It's all marketing. A good healthy diet and exercise should keep your digestive system working as it should.

I would just suggest that anyone that is considering doing one of these speak to their Dr. first - and i'd say your regular Dr., not a holistic one .

Just my 2 cents.
