    I haven't read this thread at all, just the title. The title alone makes me want to cry. Daughter at 13 needs to diet.

    That is a set up for a lifetime of eating issues. Hopefully you can instill in her an attitude AGAINST DIETING, and instead a lifetime of permanently good eating habits.

      Hi all, my sweet girl is 13 years old and is at 132lbs and 5 ft tall, I know she should weigh at around 110-115
      The title and this makes me cringe too. "Knowing" what she should weigh sounds like something is wrong with her that needs to be fixed -- that you feel would be fixed by having a scale and her jean size tell you rather than her overall fitness level.

      The number on the scale should NOT be the point of contention. Eating well (ie. fewer processed foods vs. strictly 'low carb') and being healthy and active is what's important. Learning new good habits.

      Please, please, please learn to not stress about the amount of fat on her body or the number on the scale. Let her feel good within herself. Don't project your negative feelings on to her! Feel free to even discuss that issue with her if need be -- that sometimes your own feelings about your weight get tied up when the emphasis should be on eating well and being active. Toning the body; enjoying living.
