  • My Junkfood Free Experience

    First, a little history....

I used to love junkfood. Fast food in particular. A typical week's menu pre-Atkins for me included a rotating schedule of McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy's, Arby's, KFC. I loved burgers, fries and soda. I loved it and never got tired of it.

Moving to Atkins, I was still safe with my fast foods .. the only adjustment I had to make was to eat the burgers minus the buns, substitute a side salad for the fries and move to diet soda, or order the rotisserie chicken or a bunless roast beef. No big deal .. I really *could* have my fix and still stay true to Atkins.

So I did just that for approximately 3 years. I was never much of a cook and used my "busy schedule" as an excuse to eat out alot. It wasn't that I didn't like to cook, but I just made excuses not to. Besides, the kitchen stayed alot cleaner that way!!

Last year, I decided to conduct a little experiment. I swore off fast foods. No more bunless burgers. No more Arby's or KFC .. let just see what would happen if I steered clear of those places. How would I feel? Would it make a difference, really?

    Well here's what happened.

I feel better than ever before. I have learned to cook and enjoy it. No more worrying about 'hidden carbs' .. I make the food myself; I limit the sweeteners, the sodium .. I eat organic as much as possible. I've automatically lowered the amount of fats I eat by incorporating more veggies into my diet. Oh I still love my beef and am a carnivore to the core, but now I know EXACTLY what's in the foods I am eating. Its wonderful! The amazing thing? the smell of fast foods almost sickens me now! ME!!

I encourage you to try your own experiment....see how much better you feel when you put QUALITY foods into your body!

NO MORE JUNK FOODS FOR ME!

    awesome story

I have always hated that stuff ..but understand why people eat it ...life is busy and it so easy to go through a take out place....

plus the fact it does not satisfy from what I see....because people keep going to eat more food .....big food.....
