I'd like to make my own cocktail sauce for some boiled shrimp tonight. Does anyone have a recipe? Thanks you!

I just mix SF ketchup, horseradish and a little squeeze of lemon to taste!

      Re: Cocktail Sauce

Here is one I just found online, just be sure and use SF ketchup!

You can make your own homemade cocktail sauce. Here is how..

      2tablespoons ketchup
      1/2teaspoon lemon juice
      1/4teaspoon salt
      1teaspoon horseradish
      3-4drops of tabasco sauce
      1/4teaspoon worcestershire sauce

Combine all the ingredients. If you want a little bit hotter, add more tabasco sauce..

Thank you so much. One question - what is "SF" ketchup?

                sience fiction ketchup !!!!!
                LOL

It's so funny how 'your' cocktailsauce is so different from the one in the Netherlands, but also used to put on shrimp.
Overthere it is ketchup mixed with mayonaise, some sherry or whiskey and a hint of cayennepepper, maybe a tiny bit of heavy cream to make it thinner, oooooh I used to LOVE that stuff..............

                  Re: Cocktail Sauce

I found this when doing a search on this site (but have no idea where). I searched a few stores for SF ketchup and none to be found, so... this works, but is thin:

Take a small can of tomatoe sauce
                  3 Packets of Splenda
                  Tbsp of vinegar
Big heaping tbsp of Horse Radish(No sugar added please)
Big heaping tbsp of Old Bay Seasoning

Oh, I also did not have Old Bay Seasoning and was not able to go to the store. So, I did a search and found the ingredients in McCormicks Old Bay and just added everything that I did have (I did not have it all) for seasoning.

Here are the Old Bay Ingredients:
celery, salt, spices - mustard, red pepper, black pepper, bay leaves, cloves, allspice, ginger, mace, candamom, cinnamon, paprika. (I bolded the ones I used).

                    Re: Cocktail Sauce

The only local store (Kroger)that carried the Heinz One Carb ketchup has discontinued it. So I bought the last 6 bottles but does anyone know if Heinz is going to stop making it? Is my store a discontinuing fool? (They also stopped carrying the Tiger Power Cereal that I liked giving my son, loads of fiber in that cereal)

Back to topic, I make cocktail sauce here at home. One Carb Ketchup and horseradish (the fresher the better) and a good amount of Frank's Red Hot.

I also use One Carb to make homemade BBQ sauce when I am out of unsweetened tomato sauce.

I used to make it with the Heinz one carb ketchup and horseradish, but my local Krogers stopped carrying it also. That is probably the only low carb product that I bought, used 2 bottles, loved it, and now can't find it. That's what I get for trying it.
