  • What rewards do you use?

i am making myself a hardcore list of rewards to help me keep motivated in losing the 120s i want to lose. I did a search to see if there was a thread like this but couldn't really find one.

So i am asking what rewards do you use to keep yourself motivated as you reach goals you have set for yourself. (i need more ideas as i am probably not thinking of things i know would do if i thought of them) i do have the basics of clothes, nails, feet, makeup, hair, beauty products, jewelry, tanning, candles... Are there any unusual rewards you use to keep yourself motivated? Some rewards that aren't really basic? Do you use the scale number, size or accomplishment i.e staying on plan, drinking your water etc..

My list is jumbled so i will post it once i get it a lil more organized.

I haven't added a mini goal but after reading so much about it I think I will.
I will add a mini goal of 250 lbs. by my birthday May 7th and my reward will be hummm..... HEHE! a pair of Birkenstock flip flops for summer. The cute ones I have had my eye on for a year now but not willing to pay $70.00 for them.

Jewelry: I like unusual pins/brooches. When I see one that I want, I make it my reward.

I also have been saving my pennies for a bicycle.

For me, it's time to myself to do whatever I want. Working full time, kids, dogs and just stuff makes time the most precious commodity for me. Sometimes that might mean sleeping in. Sometimes it might mean watching a movie that I want to see. Sometimes it might mean going to my cottage with my girlfriends.

I alternate between new pants and a massage for every 10 pounds lost. I have 3 pounds to go before I get to buy new pants, and a massage booked for the end of April for the next 10 pounds!! I better make it!

I'm also saving money from every paycheck, with a goal of $1000, for a new wardrobe (at least the beginnings of one!) when I hit my final goal. $400 saved! Woo-hoo!

Re: What rewards do you use?

The list of items will vary from person to person. You can also vary the reward with price, too.

For me, I'm fond of handbags, so I already have a set of Coach bags lined up to add to my collection as I continue on this WOE. As I lose more inches, I will switch to shoes & clothes as a reward. I also have the usual small rewards such as CD, movies, books, day spa, etc.

As for getting said items, I use both scale measurements, inches lost, as well as # of cheat-free days. For me, the last one is the most important as I drop weight very slowly.

If I set an exercise goal & complete it, I also get a reward. Since DH exercises with me, he knows when I've done it & when I've done enough to earn a reward. As a former exercise hater, this was a big one for me. I'm proud to say that I'm addicted, but I get the reward anyway (in addition to the reward of better health).

Also, I'm afraid of veggies, so when I do try a new one AND have it at least 3 times, DH will get me a CD or a DVD. So far, I've only gotten 2 DVDs.

I do it in steps. Keeps me looking forward to something. 15 pounds was a pedicure. Next will be a haircut. Ive got a massage in mind for future losses. Basically, pampering me and my new bod. I go by scale. the tape measure makes me feelincredible so that feeling is a reward in and of itself

Keep a tall glass vase and put a pound in for every pound you lose, you'll have to use something equivalant but to see it filling up weekly is a real boost!

At first I thought I would have all of these mini goals, but I really didn't do them. I guess the reward for me was buying 3 new pair of pants each time I go down a size. I try to get used clothing to fill in the rest of the wardrobe for now. When I am down to a size 12 I am going to buy alot of new clothes.
