  • Random Sweet Craving

i've been on induction for almost 3 weeks ( I need a lot of cleansing, lol) and I find myself wanting sweet for the past day or two. i've been fine the whole way through, and I don't have a eral sweet tooth regularly, but I keep thinking about something sweet. I do mock danishes and I try to have something fatty when it comes, but it's just getting on my nerves.

I make the cream cheese whipped cream and separate it into 1/4 cup servings in my old muffin tins. It's so rich that I can't overeat on it. When I got to the berry rung I threw in some berries too for a smoothie...OMG. Cures my sweet tooth real fast.

Maybe you need a break from the sweetener. Have you gone for any length of time without any? I'm just wondering if perhaps you still haven't killed that sweet tooth. If you went without sweetener for a while and the sweet tooth is still hanging on then I don't know.....Moochiecat is very successful and I know when this happened to her (big time chocoholic as she was) she would eat cheese or devilled eggs and the urge for sweets would go away. Maybe you need to ignore that sweet tooth and give it something else to chew on. Good luck. I know how annoying that little monster can be.

I hardly ever have sweetener, that's why it seems to have come out of nowhere. the only time i've added splenda to anything was the three or so times in three weeks that i've had a mock danish. i hate feeling like i have to eat something just because i'm craving it.

Hmmm. That doesn't sound bad. And I just finished a mock danish myself (nice change once a week or so from warm cooked eggs - I eat mine cold for breakfast) so I'm not going to say anything against that. lol I know Moochie and Betty (TTDriver) have said eating something high in fat will get rid of that urge for a sweet so maybe you should try that and see if it goes away. I'm not haunted by that sweet tooth anymore and I used to have to eat chocolate every day. Every day. I don't go near low carb chocolate either.

                Re: Random Sweet Craving

I'm still having what i call craving memories. i see marshmallow peeps and chocolate and even though i don't really want it, i think to myself how much i enjoyed eating it. i never overate sweets, i'm more into eating an entire bowl of popcorn or fruit. i think when I get to goal a little low carb choco here and there will be a nice thing, but for now i'll have to get my sweet from tomatos and peppers.

                  Re: Random Sweet Craving

You know what I do? I brush my teeth!! I use the vanilla mint toothpaste, and it cures the craving! I do eat Splenda once in a while, but I try to limit it to 2 or 3 times a week, not every day. Certain foods can trigger craving, I had Artichoke for the first time last night, and it gave me the worst sugar cravings!! I will never eat one of those again.
What would we do without it?

You just reminded me...one day I was eating a salad with dinner and I bit into something really sweet. I'm like "what the....". Turns out it was a piece of tomato but it just tasted really, really sweet. I was amazed.

Hi, someone told me in another thread that L-Glutamine works for intense sugar cravings. I didn't believe it even as I popped the supplement in my mouth. I was so racked with PMS cravings that I would cave for 4 days every single month. I can tell you that it definatly works. I have zero cravings and also find my appetite has decreased quite a bit too. I also take evening primrose oil, started at the same time, but its for PMS symptoms, I assume that its the L-Glutamine that is the miracle here. I take one capsule twice daily 500 mg. Try it

Star, you take evening primose oil for pMS? Cramps etc? I'm all about natural supplements and remedies. I'm going to pick up both.

                            Re: Random Sweet Craving

the worst part about sweet cravings is giving in to them ..it becomes a landslide if you eat them when you are craving them ...over this time I have realized the best time to eat something sweet (and sadly I never lost the taste for it) ...is to eat them when you are NOT craving them! for now while you are on induction it is very important to just let it pass..find a diversion and just know that time goes by not matter what
