  • IS cheese really that bad?

I have been doing Atkins for about 2 months and I come from a family of big time Atkins followers and I swear I have read the book...and I just read on another thread that cheese is a staller....

    Is that true?

What kind of cheese and how much?

Cheese never stalled me and I ate alot of it. However, now that I am near my goal I find it does slow my loss. Good luck!

I can not imagine life with out cheese

I have heard some folks have issue with it ..

but I think if you spread 2-4 oz over a day you will do fine ....

cheese is what helped me turn this from a good eating plan to a remarkable and quite wonderful way to eat!

I never met a cheese I did not like

On induction you are allowed between 3-4 oz of hard cheese a day.

Not in moderation. (Moderation, at least for me, is the hard part.)

I haven't had any trouble with cheese, I have wondered if the people who have trouble are lactose intolerant?? Everyone is different, I can't eat pork rinds (major stall), but lots of other people can. I also can't eat cucumbers, artichoke, or mushrooms. I do stick to the 4 oz a day rule, but I could eat more if it was allowed!!!
What would we do without it?

Re: IS cheese really that bad?

I don't think it is bad, just some people have a hard time limiting cheese to 3-4oz or their body just doesn't handle it well. Nuts aren't bad either, but I know for me they can trigger something that makes me overeat them. I try to not have nuts in the house very often. It all comes down to learning your system. We are all individuals and can have different foods trigger cravings, some stall us, etc. People post their reactions to cheese because they want others to be aware that this could be a problem. Be so happy that cheese isn't a problem for you!

Re: IS cheese really that bad?

Some people are sensitive to it and have a problem with dairy products in general, and any amount can lead to them stalling. If you don't have that problem, I would not worry about eating 3-4 oz daily. The other problem with cheese is it can lead to constipation. Make sure you are eating your veggies, and you shouldn't have any of those problems either.
