Today I woke up, tried on some pants (which were loose), and came downstairs to make bacon, eggs, and fried cabbage. As I was sitting there eating breakfast, I was suddenly hit with how grateful I am to Dr. Atkins for putting this diet out there into the mainstream in this form... I'm so grateful he came up with this system and these rules out of his research on low-carb studies and his going on his own diet back in the day... and I'm so grateful to him that he kept on trying all those years to get his message out there even when the medical community shunned him all those years.

The Atkins diet has really changed my life. I'm a different person when I'm not pigging out on carbohydrate, more focused, more motivated, clear-headed, and confident. I might actually become athletic.

With this kind of gift, this wonderful way of eating available to me, I'd be a fool to jeopardize that by eating crap food, not exercising, or not following the plan the best that I can.

I'm so grateful to have this way to control my eating and to control my life. So many people spin out of control these days.
No stats. Not weighing anymore ever. Will post "before and after" pictures when I want to. The end.

    Vigilance, not perfection.

It is amazing, isn't it? Until Atkins, I never knew I could lose weight and ENJOY eating at the same time! They say the best diet for anyone is the one they can stick with -- that's why Atkins works. It's a healthy eating plan based on science ... it's a WOE you can maintain for a lifetime ... and it's a whole lot of fun!

I know exactly what you were feeling. I was reading the article with Larry King and Dr Atkins the other day and getting sort of protective about Dr Atkins and just felt so grateful for everything he's done. I really feel mourning for our loss of such a great man.

                    Re: Revelation

Yes I agree....Before I discovered the Atkins plan I had decided that thirteen and a half stones would be the best I might ever achieve at my grand old age of 38....

Now I'm a few pounds below that and still intend to lose nearly two stones more!

Atkins has changed my life and opened my eyes to what I've been eating all these years...

Who would have thought flour was such a terrible thing?

Yes and I've said it before, I would have likely been dead by now if I hadn't found atkins. I suffered with eating disorders in my youth and into my adult hood, no escape, no way to control the weight short of starving myself to death. The first week on low carb that i ate like a starved donkey and lost weight I felt the noose loosen from my neck. Thanks for my life Dr Atkins.
