  • Hood?

What are your thoughts on Hood CarbCount Down Fat free? Does anyone use it if so in what types of foods or just drink it or add it to coffee/tea? What phase did you start to use it?

    Re: Hood?

I did a google for the ingredients and found this
Ingredients: (Homogenized) Water, fat-free milk, cream, calcium caseinate, whey protein concentrate, buttermilk, tricalcium phosphate, salt, disodium phosphate, mono- and diglycerides, carrageenan, locust bean gum, natural flavor, sucralose, acesulfame potassium, vitamin [D.sub.3].
As the only dairy products we are supposed to eat on induction are cream and aged cheeses I would say - not an induction-legal option, but probably fine for OWL once you reach the dairy rung.
That is, if you really want to eat all those additives and your body can handle them.
I would prefer to use plain old milk without all those extra 'interesting' ingredients or for induction thin down some 'legal' cream with water instead.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

      Re: Hood?

I am with Elizellen on this one -- definitely the dairy rung. I really haven't been tempted by milk products too much, and use heavy cream (cut with water) in all recipes that required milk. The one exception is if I ever (rarely) have low carb cereal. The flavor just isn't right, and Hood's was good the one time I had it. I had the Carb down one not the Fat Free one though -- not sure if there is a difference.
