  • Today marks one year since...

I started this WOL. It's been an amazing year! Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined that this was possible in just one year.

I started Atkins because my doc suggested low carb. I bought the book and read it...twice...before I started. I was amazed at how easy it was to start and stick with it.

I've been "cheat free" for the entire year ! Haven't had anything I wasn't supposed to. I've actually tried foods that I never thought I would like (cauliflower...never ate it before...now it's one of my favorites!)

I've lost 73lbs and 65 inches! I've gone down 8 sizes! I actually had co-workers comment, "You're done loosing weight, right?" and "You just keep getting skinnier and skinnier!" Comments I never thought would be directed at me. Actially, felt kinda good. Just a side note...the other night I needed to show my license when I was writing a check and the cashier commented on how much weight I had lost and that she was trying to lose weight. I told her I was following Atkins and then showed her some pics of me with my two legs in one leg of my befpre jeans. She said that she was going to buy the book and give it a try!

More amazing...I love exercising! I actually look forward to it! This coming from a former couch potato. I have an extensive library of exercise DVDs that I actually use (which amazes my husband) and enjoy. I walk on the treadmill and have started running a bit too. I'm actually thinking about a 5K in the fall.

I feel better than I ever have. I have more energy. I wasn't nearly as sick this year as I had been in the past.

My family and friends now accept that this is the way I eat. No more trying to get me to "just have a taste". They know I won't.

I thank God every day that I found Atkins! What a brilliant man Dr. Atkins was!

I'm also thankful that I've found this board. It's been and continues to be a great support.

I know that this is how I will be eating for the rest of my life. I now know what "good" feels like and want to keep feeling that way!
