  • A question mostly for the ladies...

Okay, I'm sorry if this is TMI, but I need to ask. Last time on a low carb diet, I lost very rapidly, just as I am this time. After starting to lose the weight, after about 15lb loss, i started a very heavy period which lasted a little over a full month. I ended up in the drs office with anemia during this. (I have a history with anemia) I was told it was the rapid loss of weight that most likely caused the bleeding. Now it looks like the same thing is happening again. I have consulted my dr before this diet. I am on the diet although my dr was not happy with that decision. He doesn't recommend atkins, and is whole heartedly against it. My question is is this a normal thing, or is it just my body that does this? And if it is normal, should I probably take additional iron, just in case? I'm only looking for opinions, I will not take anything as "medical advice."
BTW-I'm in extended induction at this point.

I had this Happen the first Month I was on Atkins I would take the extra Iron this should pass it's Hormonal your Body is rapidly losing fat and fat stores estogen so when you lose rapidly your body releases this estrogen causeing hormonal Upheaval for some it extended Periods for others it's spotting. It should pass but, Do take extra Iron in the mean time so you don't get anemic and keep tabs on it if you are soaking a pad evey hour that's not good and you may want to lay down. I don't have a lot of information for you but, I hope this helps.

      Hi Cassi
I have sent you a pm (private message)
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!
