  • splenda?

    hi all,

I intend to make these crackers

    http://users3.ev1.net/~fontlady/sesa..._crackers.html

but, I do not intake sweeteners .

I have recently given up aspartame, with definite improvement in health

    http://www.mercola.com/2003/nov/8/splenda_dangers.htm

    http://www.foodanddiet.com/NewFiles/splenda.html

the above articles seem to really slate splenda too.

I intend to us one teaspoon of honey to sweeten (5gms carbs).

what are your thoughts on this sweetener?

I'd avoid the honey if I were you; it's still a sugar. Saccharin is legal. Stevia is natural and legal. Or, as it's a cracker, you could try the recipe without anything to sweeten.

Honey would be worse than Splenda!! Just because it is natural doesn't mean its not sugar. Sugar cane is natural, also. If you are trying to give up sugar and sugar substitutes, than honey would be included in that. Remember, we don't just count carbs, its where the carbs come from that count.
What would we do without it?

I would leave out the sweetener Dave and see if you like them without it.

That recipe looks as if it is supposed to be savoury anyway, with the salt, garlic powder and onion powder!

I have found that many US recipes are too sweet for me and usually halve any sweetener the first time I try it, often cutting it out completely.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

          Dave,

If you do not consume the artificial sweetners then I would suggest stevia, it is all natural.
