  • My Run through the Jungle/Where you there?

Okay, I have to own up, I ran through the Jungle of bad food land. Easter took me by surprise. I did well as far as eating at my Crawfish Boil eating the crawfish, onions, mushrooms, and garlic and leaving the potatoes and corn on the cob alone. But I forgot my low carb cheese cake at home and didn't have anything for dessert so snack first on some kind of Russian made cookie then another then later had about a half dozen chocolate dipped strawberries. But now I have found my way home from out of the Jungle, and hoping my scale doesn't budge too bad tomorrow.

How did everyone else fare? Did I have anyone out there swinging from the vines with me?

Re: My Run through the Jungle/Where you there?

I did so well with the temptations. I made 5 pounds of chocolate with my DD, and wisely put peanut butter in all of it so I wouldn't be tempted (hate peanut butter). Got up yesterday morning and the kids wanted Fried dough with powdered sugar. I made myself some scrambled eggs with spinach and cheese first. So no eating the dough! Woohoo! Dinner was great, steak and shrimp and veggie tray. No problemo. The problem?? WHOPPERS and Robins Eggs! I even passed on the strawberry shortcake, homemade by MIL with fresh whipped cream! I cannot believe I got into the Kids basket for those stupid whoppers! Not a lot of them... but enough to get that sugar beast woken up for sure!
Started downing more water last night and on my 3 glass already this morning!
I'm not even dealing with the scale, cuz of PMS anyway. But I'm back on track today!

Re: My Run through the Jungle/Where you there?

Friday, quite good - hubby floured the fish, but that was, I considered, inconsequential.
Saturday - not eating regularly, and picking at the flax muffins and other "snack" type ingredients, rather than eating a proper meal - not a good choice.
Sunday - again, not eating regularly, so unbalanced. One SF candy in the evening. I really think TOM is arriving shortly (my body says so, I'm sure). Small piece of dinner roll - really craving carbs - had to stay away from the kitchen area.
Overall, more self-condemnation than I probably should have, but felt like I failed myself and my way of eating

Re: My Run through the Jungle/Where you there?

My mom gave me an Easter basket.

I told my boyfriend he could have BOTH chocolate bunnies, but between Friday and Sunday I indulged in some jelly beans, a couple little chocolate eggs and (cover your eyes, Betty) half a Peep. Actually, I threw away the Peep after one bite because, honestly, it wasn't that good. Then I had cravings really bad lastnight and satisfied them with a frankenfood ice cream bar. In three months on Atkins, I've never been this out of control.

Up 2 1/2 pounds this morning. Trying to get back into ketosis ASAP.

Re: My Run through the Jungle/Where you there?

Barb- Those malted milk balls are my downfall of the easter basket also. Fortunately, my sister had done up my daughters basket (we were spending the weekend there) and she had bought some sort of big m&m egg looking thing thinking it was the malted milk eggs.
          (ahhh saved from temptation there).

CM~All and all you look like you did pretty well over the weekend. One SF candy and just one bit of dinner roll sounds in good control. Way to go.

H2O ~ I too am feeling the scale. Was up 2 lbs. this morning. Wish I had just waited til tomorrow to weigh in and give myself at least a day to get the fluids back in balance.

Ah well Easter is gone for another year and I am back in control of things. Time to move on and leave the Jungle.

Barb - I'm right there with you. I was really good all weekend, passing up some of my favorite dishes and really good food, and then I raided the kids baskets for candy I don't even LIKE!! None of it was even remotely worth it, and if was was going to cheat, I wish it had been on something else! On the bright side, though, I at least worked out every day. Haven't had the nerve to jump on the scale, nor will I.

I avoided all peeps and cadbury creme eggs much to my pride, but unfortunately a small piece of ice cream cake found its way into my mouth.

Re: My Run through the Jungle/Where you there?

I ate at home before going to my mom and dads house. No cheating, but my father in law brought my kids some 3 musketeers and I love love love those things. I almost gave in, but talked myself out of it. I did not even SEE a cadbury egg this year, or I am almost certain I would have given in. Today is a brand new day, good job everyone getting back on track. All the candy holidays are over for a long time.
What would we do without it?

Yeah. WHY do we DO that?? I mean, come on! That homemade strawberry shortcake would have been SO much better!! And I was all proud of myself, I even served everybody and didn't have a slice! WTH? Well, the Whoppers are gone. I finished them today! All 6 of them! But now there is nothing left to tempt me! And I BOUGHT the stupid things for the kids. Duh! I too have been working out hard so I am not seeing any damage. BUT I am feeling the weekness! OK, tomorrow is a new day for me! (And anybody seen TOM?)

One day won't kill your diet so don't worry about it too much at all.

The sugar doesn't tempt me at all but my mom makes this jello salad stuff that I had to eat just a little bit. It's one of those foods I grew up with as a kid and have some sort of mental link to that food and good times. (Someday I'll be lying on a therapists couch and linking green jello salad to my current state of happiness).

Amazingly, was immune to all Easter chocolate. Made a corned beef dinner w/green vegs. Sounds good so far ...right. Except we were absolutely out of food for Monday and the kids wanted Mexican. I ordered an enchillada w/o the wrap. Again, good so far.

And if that restaurant didn't make the best, hot corn chips in the world!...

Anway, I'm headed back to induction for a bunch of reasons. This was just the last straw.

i was swinging with you. I also had some chocolate dipped strawberries on easter. Also had this ice cream cake type thing made with ice cream sandwiches and fudge, but could not eat much of it cause it was wayyyy tooo sweet for me. Sugar overload. The dinner was actually pretty healthy. Just some ham and escarole soup. YUM! it was the snacks that were killing me.

I did well. Made baskets for the kids with stuff I don't like (like peeps and jellybeans). Oh....my mom was so sweet. She brought me over a basket stuffed with different cheeses and a salami. A low carb easter basket! Support makes a huge diffrence. Overall looks like everyone did pretty good. No one completely let go and pigged out.
