  • stopped trying Atkins

I've been having a very hard time following the Atkins WOE. My sweeth tooth is notorious wherever I go or have been. I once ate 4lbs English liquorice in one sitting. Needless to say I didn't feel my best after that Last week I managed to stay 2 days on plan and really felt great. I had been feeling tired and run down for weeks and within 2 days , everything seemed to go smoother. When i went running that night , my energy level went through the roof! I really had to stop myself to not overdue it (I had surgery two months ago and am building up the intensity slowly to prevent injury or complications).

But I jumped on the carb wagon again with Easter going on and my fathers birthday party
Boy was I sorry! When I went running last night , I was actually in pain! My body got tired from my warming up walk!
Today I started the day with some fried eggs with green pepper and onion and allready am I feeling better.

I have really felt the difference and never will it be difficult again for me to stick to the Atkins WOL! I have stopped trying to do Atkins , now I'm doing Atkins.
I am on this for the rest of my life!

    Great job, Elke!!!

Isn't it amazing that you don't realize how bad you feel until you start feeling better?

      Re: stopped trying Atkins

Yay elke! We all know it can be hard to get it started. But if you'll do it by the book for just two weeks, you'll be all set up to do it long term. For right now, just commit yourself to two weeks clean. You can do something for two weeks right?? Focus on that and call it a goal. Then set yourself up for the next goal. Baby steps.

            Re: stopped trying Atkins

Hi Elke. Great post, I was the same way with feeling dragged down, my body hurt all the time. Headaches, sleepless nights *meant eating*.

I am on my 4th week now, and my husband can't beleive the change in me. 10 pounds gone isnt a lot. But its how I feel and how active I am that is amazing him. I used to have left arm pain, bad enough i couldnt allow anyone to touch my arm. Couldnt move it like you should be able too. Nothing I tried or the doctors tried worked. Today I have little pain, my arm is able to do the normal things in life. Like hold my bottle of water. Couldnt do that before atkins!

I havent felt this good in years. Because of how I feel now, Atkins is also my life plan. No way do I want to go back feeling like I used too.

            Congratulations on your decision!

Now, instead of "trying" Atkins, you are actually DOING Atkins.

                  Great job!

It really is amazing how much better you feel on this WOE, and not just because you're lighter. When I fell off for 4 or 5 months last year, I couldn't believe how much more tired, lazy, and depressed I felt (not to mention 15 lbs. heavier)! Now that I'm back on track, i've got that evergy back that I missed so much. Woohoo for Atkins!
