Re: low carb pasta called Bella Vita

If you feel like you want spagetti do what I do get a spagetti squash and a very low carb sauce (I find the pizza sauces are low in carbs) Load your spagetti up with home made meatballs, a small amount of sauce, maybe some veggies like onions, green peppers, mushrooms and pour it all over your spagetti squash. And the best part if you keep your quantities where they are supposed to be for induction it is perfectly induction legal. No need for phony low carb pasta or the risk of eating it on induction. Have the attitude if you want something find a recipe that is legal, rather than if I want it I'll eat a little anyway even though it's not legal. Been there done that and it doesn't work in the long run. I set myself up for carb cravings that I couldn't overcome.

thank you! i love spag. squash and i make a killer chicken alfredo with it--so yummy! i love the support that you guys give because I feel like I'm the support for everyone else here--my husband, family, friends, etc. many of them started this low carb diet because they saw the results I had, but some of them aren't really comitted to it and I'm always trying to encourage them and help them, so this board is really great for me. Thank you to everyone!

I don't want to stay on the strict Induction because I want to have a variety of vegetables. I ate a serving (1 cup) of that pasta. I just dumped some in a 1 cup measuring cup, so that wasn't hard to measure it. I tested my urine this morning for ketones and it was a very DARK PURPLE, so having the pasta must not have hurt me, plus my weight went down 2 pounds since yesterday.

Thank you all for caring and giving me your opinions about this pasta. I must confess, it doesn't taste very good--very chewy. But like someone else said for 40 cents a box, you can stock pile and use it later. I don't think I will be eating much of this because the taste isn't that good. Honestly, I like Spaghetti Squash better, which is so much more healthier and a GOOD CARB.

So on to my next question....I have lost about 40 pounds in 3 months. Can someone tell me if they exercised or weight trained and what type of results they saw. Because I feel good that I have lost the weight but I haven't been seriously exercising or weight training and I don't want to get flabby.

Thanks! Do I need to go to a different topic?
What you describe is OWL--On-Going Weight Loss Phase.

If you are using an edition of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution before 2002, I can sort of see where you are coming from.

OWL is one of the 3 weight loss phases of Atkins. In the 1992 version of the Diet, Dr. Atkins included OWL and Pre-Maintenance Phases but did not give much structure to them. Basically, you added 5 net carbs of food. As long as you continued to lose weight, all was well. In the 2002 edition, Dr. Atkins made these phases more organized and structured.

I think the folks here are confused because you described your plan as "Induction"--which is specifically defined in the book.
