  • low blood sugar?

Today is day 10 of induction for me, and I've felt good and energetic up until this point. All morning I've felt dizzy and confused. Whenever I stand up my vision almost goes black for a minute. What is going on? what can I do to stop feeling so dizzy?

I got the same thing when I wasn't eating enough! Have you checked the calories from fitday lately? It might be smart to just have one or two high fat snacks and see if that makes a difference. Also, increasing water is another thing you may want to try. I hope you feel better!

that sounds like low blood pressure as standing effects it. Are you on any blood pressure meds? if not are you taking any supplements for your electrolytes? many folk get too low potassium and water soluble vits when they up their water and make poor nutritional food choices during induction. Does eating a snack make you feel better?

Ive never been on any blood pressure meds...but every time I get it checked, it has always been really low. i have been drinking tons of water every day, so I'm not sure what is going on. I just ate an omelet and sausage about an hour ago, but I still feel woozy. should i drink some oj? or is that too many carbs for induction?

              Re: low blood sugar?

I had this happen to me when I was on induction before. Both times is was mid-late afternoon and I hadn't eaten since lunch. Both time I had jumped up from my chair and ran over to the copy maching only a few steps from my desk. I got so dizzy I literally had to hang onto the copy maching to keep from falling down. I asked the Dr. a couple of days later when I had an appt and he said it probably was a drop in blood sugar and that I needed to eat a little something mid afternoon.

if you get up slowly does the blackout happen? how much potassium are you getting?

call your doc and see what they say for you to do.

if I get up slowly, it's alright..im kind of shaky though too...maybe it's coffee? but i only had a half a cup and that usually doesn't affect me. I don't know, I'll probably call my doc if it doesn't subside

                  thanks e1!

                    Re: low blood sugar?

Some folk have orthostatic hypotension and just rising quickly can make us pass out was why I ask about the speed of rising effecting it. geting up slowly allows your body to increase your blood pressure in response to the posistional change.

Atkins has a blood pressure lowering effect with the natureal diuretic effect of the proteam and the foods. Good idea to check with the doc if it continues. Tell them what you told us about rising and even still happeneing after you eat.

I think this question got overlooked. Definitely, DON'T drink O.J. It's full of sugar and carbs and isn't allowed on induction. A high fat snack as suggested is a better bet. I hope you figure this one out soon!
