  • My job is stocking the candy aisle...

I work overnight at Target where I stock the entire sales floor with a team each night. We start out in the shampoo area and work towards snacks first, and stocking the snack aisles always makes me starving. When I open a box that smells so good my stomach grumbles it's answer and I'm really afraid that this is going to kill my induction when I start . There's no way I can avoid stocking those aisle's since "We don't pay you to pick what you want to stock" and we get in trouble for skipping aisles. It's going to be really rough on me and I don't want to fail so I don't know how to fix this. Does anyone else have this problem at work? I'm also embarrassed to eat at work so what can I do?

Ayria. I feel your pain. I have a soda and snack vending business. This is what I drive around with all day

And this is just PART of what I live with! Doesn't even show my daughters bedroom full of cases of chips and cookies and other candies!

The way I have to handle this is that I have to make sure I eat a good breakfast before I head out to work. And then I have to make sure I stop and get something good for lunch if I am out on the road and get hungry. Sometimes it's Wendy's Ceasar salad for 99 cents! It's rough somedays, I know what you mean. I open that chocolate cooler and just want to scarf down a chocolate bar!
Why are you embarrassed to eat at work? Do you not get a lunch break? You could eat before you go to work and pack yourself a nice lunch.
Also, L-glutamine capsules are my life saver for sugar cravings. They help a lot!
You can get through this. I know you can.

Maybe you should hang out during regular store hours to see who buys stuff from the candy aisles. Based on the current weight problem in the US, I can bet the majority of the candy buyers are overweight. Do you want to remain overweight like those candy snarfers?

when you smell that stuff remember it is NOT FOOD it is crap to fill a endless hole and nothing more...

eat well before work, drink lots of water and bring something healthy for yourself ...

you should only put wonderful healthy good tasting long lasting food in your body ..period ...all that other stuff..let THEM have it ..because your body is worth so much more effort...

but that is just my humble opinion

If your stomach is growling you aren't eating enough. Keep yourself full of healthy food. Keep healthy snacks with you at all times.

All that overprocessed, manufactured junk does is waste our hard earned pennies and make us an overweight nation. Don't buy into that kinda of poisen. Atkineers know better.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I'm just trying to prepare for problems before they arise, hehe. I'll keep all of this in mind, and wow, if Barbde can resist all that 24/7 I sure can for a few hours each day!

It will be hard in INduction but make sure you never go there hungry. Once you move onto OWL always have a few nuts, they are great for when the craving kicks in!

Officer trick for bad smelling scenes..

Vicks vapo rub, just under your nose. You won't be able to smell much else.

Re: My job is stocking the candy aisle...

While making my son's preschool class Easter party bags I had an issue with Reeses PB Cups... got through the Starburst just fine. Then I opened that bag and the that smell of chocolate and peanut butter hit me! It smelled soooo good, but after not having sugar for awhile I know that even when I have given in a couple of times and indulged it leaves me feeling sick to my stomach with a headache. Getting through the induction period and a week or so after that is the hardest part hon, after that, it's a breeze!

Re: My job is stocking the candy aisle...

The solution is simple. Eat a HUGE atkins friendly meal right before work. If you are full the thought of more food, regardless of what it is, will not appeal to you.

Whenever I go somewhere where there will be a large amount of "free available carbs", like a dinner party where hot fresh baked rolls are served, I'm sure to even eat right before I go so i'm not even slightly hungry.

I personally recommend cheese sticks. I find if I eat 2 to 4 motzerella cheese sticks before ANYTHING I am absolutely not tempted by anything in front of me.
