Ughh....i'm stressed. It's only my second week on induction and last week I read all about yeast problems so i did the spit test and failed...so I ran out and bought Oil of Oregano, Apple Cidar Vinigar tablets, and Acidophilus and started taking them this weekend while also cutting out all cheese. Now I am up two pounds and this is only my second week of Induction.
Could these products be causeing me to gain weight??? should i just go back to what i was doing.
    I am really frustrated.

    First take a big breath.

Second, this is your 2nd week of Induction. Induction is a full 14 days. It's perfectly normal to lose and gain, lose and gain, lose and gain. What you are looking for is an overall decrease in pounds and inches.

Third, can those products hinder your loss? Yes. Any food that your body is sensitive to can hinder your loss. So, for the time being, drop those products. Do a "clean" Induction---stick to the Rules, stick to the foods list, drink your water, exercise. See what your results are on Day 15. If you haven't lost pounds or inches, then try to troubleshoot the problem.

No need to freak out. Do the 14 days. See what your results are. If your diet needs tweaking, then ask help in the appropriate forum.

Also be sure to take measurements of yourself. Sometimes you'll lose inches, but no pounds.

          Hi Faith,
Don't lose hope...it takes time. I too have gone up and down a few pounds. One week, I was stressed too and couldn't figure out why I was stalled. It's hard to tell because I don't really know you're history about the yeast...is it something the doctor could help you with so you don't have to take extra supplements?

I also don't know what you're eating, but excess salt intake can cause water retention/gain.

No need to beat yourself up by suggesting you are not "normal sized," because it's about becoming healthy, by eating healthy The weigh loss is a part of that and it will happen!

            Thanks everyone!

I don't have a yeast problem....i just failed the spit test and convinced myself that yeast must be a problem i should deal with - but in reality I lost 4lbs my first week on atkins....so maybe just because I failed the spit test, doesn't mean i have a yeast problem. I am going to go back to doing a clean induction. Thanks so much for everyones support!

                Hi!!

Hang tough there. Don't worry about Yeast or spit tests or anything for the time being. If you're losing weight - you're OK. A little fluctuation is normal. Cut out the fancy stuff - particularly any Apple Cider Vinegar ANYTHING - and see if weightloss returns.

It'll work. As the Late Good Doctor points out - it has to!!

Keep going, Faith as others have said.
It is too soon to start playing with your menus. Do your 2 weeks induction and then you will be able to find what sort of metabolism you have according to the table in DANDR and go from there.
You have already lost over 10% of the total you want to lose, so that is great!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Spit test is where you hock a loogie on a stranger, and then run like holy ####. It's normally good for about a 5 mile sprint, which results in a drop in weight. JK! I have no idea what a spit test is. I've done the strips, but that wasn't spit that I was putting on them!

STAY OFF THAT SCALE MONSTER!!!! for at least 7 more days...
You sound like me.... I was addicted to that scale monster and was weighing myself several times a day, only to freak out when the monster told me I gained 2 lbs in 1 1/2 hours. I try to limit my addiction now to everyother day. You see I am now forced to ween myself down to once a week, which it should be.

Keep the faith in the system and DON'T FREAK OUT if you know your doing the right thing. To add.... I wouldn't cut cheese out all together, just limit your intake a little then re-test yourself after a week.

Just do a strict 2 week induction and then weigh yourself and see what you lose. Drop the products you talked about..they will screw up your induction. Dont worry about the candida, IF you even have it. Doing induction will help with any yeast problems.

Hang in there Faith and stay positive.... I know its frustrating to lose and gain lose and gain, but you may still be losing inches, and in the end its the way you look that matters, not the number on the scale right?
