  • I need some advice.

I am in the induction phase and I am always feeling hungry. The hunger feeling only stops when I am eating and for like 10 minutes after.

In another thread someone mentioned that maybe I wasn't getting enough fat. Does this fat come from meats that are fatty, if so what types?

I also feel like I am eating all the time. I have 2 regular meals and then it feels like I have to snack every couple of hours. That is fine as long as I have Atkins friendly snacks handy (celery, green bell peppers and olives). Is this normal to eat this often. I really want to succeed at this.

Any help or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I dont know about the fat, but...

From everything I've read here, yes, it's normal to eat every few hours. Since we don't eat until we're stuffed and only until we're satisfied, we're bound to be hungry more often. The rules is to not go over 6 hours without eating something. On induction, just don't go over the 20 carbs recommended.

I'm sure someone else will sign on and offer more information for you soon.

On Atkins you should eat when you are hungry, til you are full. You should eat a good amount of fat, it will keep you satisfied longer. You should always eat your veggies carbs WITH a fat (butter, cream cheese, ranch dip, etc) to keep the blood sugar level. Read the stickies for detailed info. I'm concerned that your Atkins snacks are low fat. Try some cheese, pepperoni, pepperoni cheese lol, cream cheese w/your veggies at least.

Oh, good fatty meats are beef, ground or steaks, chicken with skin, pork roasts.
What is it, a RACE? It's coming off, right????

Get a free account at www.fitday.com on Atkins we try to have a ratio of 5%carb 65% fat 30% protein. Eating within those limits should keep you full longer.
Here is a great sticky that explains it

Sometimes cravings can be confused with hunger but definitely keep eating when you feel like it and keep it friendly. Also, many have said they will feel hungry when they need to up their water intake. Just a thought... no matter what stick to your guns and keep on pushin!! It will level out.

During the earlier stage of induction when cravings still lurk about, sipping some bouillion broth, or munching pork skins was good for curbing my confused apppetite. When eating meals, try slower eating, and don't eat until stuffed; stop earlier and wait awhile. If still hungry eat a little more, repeat.

Ohh! Good advice Boonie! I have fallen in love with Wyler's Chicken with Herb broth cubes. I often have it as a late evening snack and especially when I have a cold and am tempted to eat warm "comfort" foods.
