  • Pomm Bears...reading Carbs

    Hi

I know its a completely stupid question but here goes.....

I was reading the Nutrition Info on a packet of Pomm Bears ( I know that the labels differ in here in UK to the States so hopefully someone can help!) and it says carbs 15g of which sugars 0.4g. I've always counted the first line when reading labels but someone told me today that you just count the line where is says of which sugars.

Do I take the 15g into my daily comsumption or the 0.4g?

    Thank u

Unless you have fiber grams and sugar alcohols to subtract you would count the 15 grams.

I just googled them and there are a bunch of little bears jumping all over my screen! Mmmm crispy delicious little jumping bears *drools* LOL the web page is so cool, it has dancing bears and cute little music. These things are cunning though but I do see where you are seeing the total carb and sugar count.

Why dont you send me some and I will test them out for you My guess is that you count the total grams minus the dietary fiber or in the U.K. the fibre which is .4 grams if you are going off the 25 gram chart. I could be wrong so wait for a wise one to post before making a decision.

This appears to be a potato chip? I don't think you should eat them at all until you are at the starchy veggies rung if you aren't already, and even then I would say you would eat them very rarely.

but jacksuncle is right...What a cute site !

You need to count the 15 grams of carbs as the net carbs, as UK labels have already deducted the fibre count.
So for 100 grams of the 'original' flavour according to a google search they have
          Per 100g:
Energy 2146kj/513kcal, Protein 3.0g, Carbohydrate 61.8g (of which sugars 1.5g), Fat 28.2g (of which saturates 15.1g), Dietary Fibre 1.4g, Sodium 1.0g
Which Atkins stage are you on? Have you checked the ingredients to make sure they are all 'legal' for whichever stage you are on.
Potato powder 31%, vegetable oil, potato starch, modified potato starch, modified tapioca starch, salt, sugar, emulsifier: soya lecithins (with whey powder and milk protein), yeast extract, spice
so not 'legal' till you reach the starchy vegetables rung, and when you do add 5 net carbs of them you would have to limit it to about half a 25 gram packet!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

I can just mentally taste them lol.

But they don't fit in with my new way of life. Don't eat them, its just not worth it!
