    Am I Correct?

I have just visited a friend who convinced me to try an Indian curry sauce. Got to admit it tasted absolutely wonderful. To my surprise the Nutritional Information by my calculations were not to bad.

    Per 100g

    Energy 179Kcal

    Protein 3g

    Carbs 12g

    Of which Sugars 2g

    Fat 13g

    Of which sat 7g

    Fibre 11g

Ingredients: Onion,Water, Sunflower Oil, Milk Paste, Butter, Curd, Fresh Cream, Cashew Nuts, Melon Seeds & a long list of spices.

    May I count this as 1gNet Carbs / 100g

    Thanks

    Re: Am I Correct?

Looks correct to me 12 carbs - 11 gr. fiber = 1 net carb.

If this is a UK product, the carbs listed is the "net carbs".

            Afraid not, Colin

As not2late said - in UK the fibre has ALREADY been deducted from the carbs, so what in UK is referred to on labels as 'total carbs' is what Atkins counts as 'net carbs'

A clue to whether the fibre has been deducted is that the fibre is not listed directly under the total carbs figure below the 'of which sugars' bit, but listed lower down the label in its own section.

Also the word is spelled the UK way 'fibre' rather than the USA way 'fiber'.

Also apart from being a hefty 12 net carbs per 100grams it does contain OWL rung ingredients, so would not be 'legal' till the nuts/seeds rung.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Yeah, y'all do some funny spelling over there. I guess you lose vowels and letters are flipped when you cross the Atlantic.

                  Re: Am I Correct?

That's about what I get in my carb count when I make it.(With the fiber adjustment) Unfortunately when you eat 3 times the servings you need to count three times the carbs too! I'm addicted to that stuff, probably eat it 2 or 3 times a month.

I can't believe there's a thread about curry that Heidi hasn't popped into yet.

Colin, I love curry too. I just have a hard time keeping the portions modest.

Best of all about this diet is that i can have Tandoori chicken.

                          Talking of curry . . . . .
What do you all eat your curry with?

I sometimes do the grated cauliflower 'rice' but recently caulis have been teeny and pricey, so the last few times I sliced cabbage up thinly and chopped it into one inch lengths (roughly) and boiled that to have the curry poured over.

It was a great taste combination.

Anyone have any other 'rice' substitutes?
