  • Tough Time, Any Suggestions?

This is going to be a real tough two weeks for me, classes just finished up and I have finals next week. Either way, I've just been so out of it lately: I feel like I've forgotten how to run my "Atkins life" if you will! I'm not sure what to eat, I'm stuck on frozen broccoli for two meals a day, not sure what to shop for, always just end up with tuna and eggs. I can't get up the energy to exercise or any enthusiasm to make food and I just don't feel like I'm getting the full benefit of ketosis. I feel like I've gone out of my mind!

I'm not sure what I'm asking, nor what to do. I feel like maybe I should start a new suppliment to get my brain fog under control, maybe re-induct myself to get ketosis going really strong, or something. I don't know! Has this happened to anyone else? I really need some advice.

    Hi!!

Relax - all is well!!! I was major league extended induction while I was getting one of my Masters degrees. It can be done ...it shall be done.

Some thoughts. When under stress like this - go have a fat rib-eye steak and a salad. Eat something you don't normally eat. It'll help.

Next - take a vitamin B supplement. Nature made makes a good super B w/vitamin C. It does wonders to clear up the foggy brain business. I'm convinvced ...without any scientific basis .... that this particular feeling has as much to do w/B vitamin deficit as carbs.

    Drink even more water.

Finally - buy extra snack foods. Cheese cubes; A whole chicken in the fridge; extra bags of salad. Stuff to snack on.

Best of Luck!! There is no free lunch ...just a carb free lunch!!!

Thanks for the help! I've been taking a B suppliment and a C suppliment since I started, but maybe I need to get more strength. And yeah, a whole chicken sounds good right now, LOL!

Grab soem atkins breakfast bars for during your exams. I always had to eat. Also - I always packed emergency nuts. If you're in induction - they're verbotten. However, my sugar level drops when I'm under stress. So - it is better to have a bag of almonds in your pockt than a bag of oreos!!

Well, I've gotten to the point where I'm not in any danger of cheating and going to Oreos thankfully! It helps when your house is completely clean of those things. I hate those awful breakfast bars, but you're right, a convenient breakfast is a good idea. I'll have to think of up some, preferably flaxy ideas =)

since you aren't in 14 day induction get some portable snacks like your favorite nuts and bag them in one ounce bags so you got fuel. Dr Atkins uused to snack on them all day long as he was too busy for meal times. Stress can do strange things to our memories. get your exercise so you are using up those stress hormones in a posisitve manner.

Plan to spend on day cooking and cutting foods so you can just grab it heat and eat during your exams. have some veggies all cut up and in bags so you can just grab them and go.

try cooking the muffin pan eggs you are basically baking and omlette with whatever filling you put in the tins before you add the beeten egg and cheese mix. keep them in the frig or freeze and nuke one for breakfast or other meals with your vegies and other OWL foods.

Best of luck with the exams.

for quick dinners you can make stirfrys with ground turkey, for example with bellpepper, celery, radish and some onion + a dash of curry-powder, tastes really good and is very quick to make !
Or even pour this into a pan and put beaten egg over it, cut it in pieces, almost like a quiche, hmmmMMMMM and easy to grab.
Good luck in this hard time, go kick them *****

Its Friday night! How about taking a step back for a few hours tonight and getting the hubby to take you out for dinnner and dancing. Even though you have so much going on right now taking some time tonight to just relax and have fun might be just what the doctor ordered. Give you time to refocus your energy and just get out for awhile. Plus dancing might help your resolution in your heart to stick to it and further embrace this WOL.

THANK YOU GUYS!! You all are so wonderful and you really have no idea how good your support feels! I'm fresh back from Costco with 7 pounds of chicken and 3 pounds of ground beef. Just knowing that I *have* food makes me feel that much better.

if you cook to the internal done temp a bunch of your chicken you can bag them up and refigerate and/or freeze them. then just put your flavorings in the frying pan with a little oil or water depending on your fat levels and saute a "bag" for dinner in min. since each bag will taste different you will never be bored of the same old thing. I love using rosemar, garlic and EVOO or going cajun with my spice mix in a little oil and blacken the chicken skin or surface if it is skinless.

My favorite easy food are chicken breasts (bone & skin IN - boneless is for sissies ) that I cook in a low pan w/lots of chicken broth. I cook to oblivion. Then fridge w/broth. It lasts a few days. When you nuke it - nuke w/broth. Reconstitutes wonderfully!!
