  • Woo Hoo!!!

OK so what other diet can you stick to while on vacation like you can the Atkins diet?!! I just got home from a ten day vacation. Yes I was drinking, but only vodka and soda water. Now in the past if I had been drinking while on vacation, I would come home 6 or 7lbs heavier, but..... I stuck to the program except for the added vodka. I came home 5lbs LIGHTER.

Food servers were soooo helpful. Everyone of em was nice and truethful when I asked if something had sugar in it. or if I had to order off the menu.
LOL I was also pretty popular with my friends as I was always giving away my fries!

    Thank-you Dr. Atkins!!!

still have a few more pounds to go!!

Wow, a0wesome job! Most people probably would have given in to the temptation and would've been borrowing the other people's fries instead of giving them away =D hehe. Congrats for your dedication!

This is a great post thank you

you are right travel is so easy ..because it is not about what you can not have in life ...you can have what you want ..it is just now you want to eat better than average

I seek out wonderful unique food wherever I go

            good for you

I find most restaurants want your business and are more than willing if you can not find something on the menu that is perfect for you they will modify it...although I can not remember a time I really had to even ask.... I just order ala carte for the most part then there is no issue

              Re: Woo Hoo!!!

The hardest part of sticking on program was on the planes! BUT even there the flight attendant was helpful. Couldn't eat either entré, but I could have the salad and she came back with a nice cheese plate for me. (Yes! She had been on Atkins too!) On the flights home I made sure to have an Atkins bar in my purse. Yes, they do come in handy in emergencies.

As to the local food, I fell in love with Poké. It's raw tuna marinated in sesame oil, soy, green onions, sea salt, and a few other things. I will post a recipe in the recipe forums. I lived on raw fish and LOVED it!

Thank-you for the congrats. It's nice to have vacation pics that I WANT to show around!

Way to go, 5 lbs., that is great. I too find I lose while on vacation but I think my loss is always due to I have more activity than when I am at home as a stay at home mom. Congrats!

I LOVE Poke, I ate it every day, my favorite in Hawaii was the octopus poke made with kimchee sauce. I suspected the Kimchee had sugar but ate it anyway. I didn't lose weight while in Hawaii, prob due to all that poke, but I didn't gain either. Now I am jonesin to get hubby to make it for me. Were you in Hawaii? I just got back from Maui and Molokai, was partying with another Atkins girl in Maui, she was drinking the disgusting vodka and club soda like me! Mebbe that was you! haha

I stayed away from the octopus. I find it too chewy. But yeah I lived on the Ahi poké
Yes, I was in Hawaii, but I was on Oahu. Though I was on a different Island, we WERE drinking the same drink!! I sure missed drinking the Mai Tais this year!! BUT, thanks to Atkins, THIS year I got to wear my bikini!!!! So I can't really regret not being able to drink the fruity umbrella drinks!

It was fantastic. BUT we didn't go to the beaches on the South shore. We went up to the wilds of the North shore.

We went to the Dominican Republic for our honeymoon last year. It was 5 star all inclusive. It was a perfect place to do Atkins (although I wasn't doing Atkins at the time) - as much meat, fish, cheese and veg as you could eat. It was all buffet style so you helped yourself any time of the day. I was eating chicken breasts and burgers without the buns most days and loved it. Can't wait to go back!
