Re: Okay, should I be worried?

Here's what 2big had to say:

there is the Katch McArdel formula for figuring basal metabolism based on lean body mass and then there is the food "tax" formula which shows that fats use more of their calories for digestion to energy while carbs use ony 4% and al switching from the USDA normal high carb diet to Atkins will give the same energy burn for 1200 USDA cals as 1560 Atkins based cals which is what Dr Atkins calls his advantage in DANDR

Try Googling the Katch McArdel thing....It was interesting, and tons of info out there on it. Good luck!

Re: Okay, should I be worried?

Y'know - I've noticed a funny effect where I stay on plan, but kick up my protein intake, and weight loss suddenly kicks in. The other thing, I find 20grams of carb magic. If I go lower, I don't know that I help myself. My metabolism goes to sleep.

The hot dogs might have had 1grm or 2grm per piece. The diet sodas are probably worht a few. The pepper steak might have some marinade. Coudl be you inadvertently brought your carbs up.

But - take the good fortune and ride it!!

Incidentally, I'm new here and never heard of "ONE-DERLAND". I love it. My next goal!! For my size, 195 is downright slim. Next stop!!

Re: Okay, should I be worried?

Good point. I know this post is kinda dead, but rather than start another one, I decided to revive this one.

I am currently residing in onederland, and I think I'm now a permanent tenant. A couple of weeks ago, I had my foot in the door, and stayed around 197. Well, this weekend, I went to my sisters for a barbeque and a basketball game, and overloaded on protein. Once again, no salad, and I don't believe I had breakfast. I lie. Pillform breakfast. Vitamins.

Saturday, which is today, overloaded on protein again. Not nearly as many diet sodas as the last incident, but still a couple. Not much water, so I think if I kick up my water intake, I'll probably gain a little back, but I weighed myself after a 3 hour nap. Weigh in was maybe about 2 hours ago.

        190.

From 197 yesterday, to 190 today. What is it with me and big jumps? Could it have something to do with this "protein fast" I read about somewhere on the forums? Is it a way to kick yourself out of a stall?

Oh, and the breyers low carb ice cream isn't half bad. Texture is a little "creamy" and leaves a very faint livery, slimy film on the tongue, but it isn't horrible. And when I say faint, I mean, almost not noticeable.

Re: Okay, should I be worried?

Okay, is everyone sure I don't have to be worried?

A 7 pound whooshie on Saturday is one thing.

But a 2 pound whooshie following after immediately?

I was 197 on Friday. 190 on Saturday, and at 3:46 Sunday afternoon, I'm 188.

Last night, after I posted, I had a barbequed chicken leg quarter, a jalapeno kielbasa sausage, and a little more of the low carb ice cream.

This morning, before my shower, I had some more of the ice cream.

Now, if this is some sort of miracle ice cream, maybe I should keep getting it, and eating until I'm 2% body fat...

Re: Okay, should I be worried?

Excess protein is converted to glucose (about 58% excess protein). So if you eat, say, 10 grams extra, your bod is going to make about 5.6 grams of glucose from that protein. Eat 100 grams (about 3.5 ounces) extra protein, your bod is going to make 58 grams of glucose from it.

So when you eat "extra" or "more" protein, you're really eating extra glucose and it will effect your body like you're eating 5 net carbs of strawberries or a slice of pepperoni pizza.

Re: Okay, should I be worried?

Would that icecream happen to be the Breyers Rocky Road low-carb that's on sale at Food Lion this week? Too bad it doesn't have the whooshie effect on me. Whenever it's in my freezer, it screams out my name! It's nice that you can eat it and still lose! I'm green with envy! But I can be happy for you, too, I guess.

Re: Okay, should I be worried?

That's a scary statistic, not2late - I thought I could eat as much meat as I liked? ah! How much is too much??

Well done for the whooshie, maybe just stick to weighing yourself one time per day if you need to - I find neked as a jay bird in the morning, no jewellery, no watch, been to the toilet, blown nose etc is the optimum time.

As for the Breyers - it is YUM, but habit forming and also acts as a weight loss aid through EXCESSIVE DIARRHOEA!! mmmmm, nice.
