  • No scales?

    Hi all -

Just curious. Have any of you opted not to weigh yourself? I'd rather let my clothes and my eyes be the judges. I'm not really concerned with how much I weigh as much as how I look and feel. I might weigh myself at the 4 week point...maybe.

    Re: No scales?

    Hi Christy!

I didn't weigh myself until I was almost one month in. I think it was like a way for me to handle the number on the scale; to know I had already lost some and was well on my way. Otherwise, my pattern is to get frustrated, down on myself, feel defeated before I begin, and then decide to seal the deal with something comfortably chocolatey.

I've been at this since Feb. and I am still not very frequent with the weighing. I will step on every 2-3 weeks to check my progress (usually 2 pounds per week), but I much prefer to notice my success through loose clothing, and comments from hubby and friends. It's strange. Today I am retiring my favorite jeans. I will be shopping soon for a newer and smaller pair that doesn't have the a** trailing around at my heels, so now I'm looking forward to that next weigh in!

So, the point of this rambling? Measure your success in the tangible ways that you see fit. I like the measuring tape, myself, but save that one for once in a blue moon. It helps, though, when I need to keep myself accountable. Hope this is helpful, and good luck to you!!! Keep us posted on your progress!

      Re: No scales?

      Hey christy! Good question.

If you'd rather not weight, then don't do it. I only weigh once a month, mostly because I have the most spastic fluid levels in the world and my scale weights are completely meaningless 3 weeks out of the month (thank you, estrogen), but also because it's really good for my peace of mind. I always find that I lose SOMETHING at my monthly weigh-in, and because I can see that monthly progress I don't get discouraged by the natural ups -and -downs of my fluid balance- (affects so much of our day to day weight).

So I guess my answer is-: if it's going to make you psycho, definitely don't weight all the time. Daily weighing, and sometimes even weekly weighing,- makes me psycho.

Good luck to you! I hope you have great success with this way of eating.
No stats. Not weighing anymore ever. Will post "before and after" pictures when I want to. The end.

      Vigilance, not perfection.

I also only weigh once a month...I used to weigh daily and it drove me nuts! It wasn't easy, but i managed to wean myself down to once a month, it takes alot of stress out of your life.

I'd say if you don't want to weigh, than dont! I think going by your clothes and how you look is a great idea. I actually use jeans (non stretch ones) as my guide when i've put on a couple of lbs. Jeans don't lie

Sadie's right - the jeans never lie.

Yeah...I have this one pair of pants that are held shut by a piece of velcro and a drawstring. Those definitely let me know where I stand. Velcro can't hang on for dear life like buttons can, LOL. It's day 8 and my sitting-down-fat-roll doesn't protrude quite as much. Works for me. Thanks for your feedback ladies.

              Re: No scales?

Just a thought... I wish I had weighed before and after induction so that I knew my degree of resistance for later on down the road. After that it isn't important, I do weigh daily now just to keep an eye on things so no weight sneaks up on me.

Scales totally suck... I look slim and I can wear clothes that I fit into when I was 10lbs lighter than I am now!...it is not a true reflection of whats going on internally..

But sadly I am addicted to the little monster , I hop on everyday...

Hi, My name is Delia and its been 2 hrs since my last weigh in...
