  • Trying to kick diet soda but...

My husband will not stop bringing it in the house. Any suggestions? I have to be able to just resist, dh is always bringing home fountain diet pepsi, fridge packs etc. Even if I don't buy them they end up in my fridge-at my home so throwing them out is not an option!

I'm doing pretty good but I really want some diet Pepsi NOW! I am on day 2 of no diet soda, do the cravings go away?

soda is poison and diet soda is worse than regular if it contains aspartame. there are many chemicals in soda and the human body was not designed to consume such crap. And yes just like cigarettes, the cravings do go away. I cannot nor am I willing to drink it.
    Does that help?

The cravings have gone away for me. Every once in awhile though...very rarely...I will enjoy a caffeine free diet Coke. It hasn't stalled me and it satisfies my fizzy drink taste. Even though it says it has no carbs, I still count the sweetener towards my daily limit.

It's hard sometimes to not have something. When I get that way, I come here and read, read, and read some more. Then poof! It's gone!

Sit down with your husband tonight and tell him you are trying to remove diet soda from your diet. Ask him for his support in your effort.

Lay down some rules. It's okay if he wants to drink soda, but ask him not to keep it in the house or provide him with a specific area where he can store his soda.

You'll be amazed how much money those sodas cost.

If your soda drinking is more related to needing a carbonated drink, you can drink an occasional seltzer water. But just remember, seltzer doesn't count towards your daily water requirement ( Chapter 18 of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution 2002 edition : "You must drink at least eight 8-ounce glasses of pure water daily. This can be filtered, mineral or spring water (not seltzer). You may also have unlimited amoujnts of herbal tea (without sugar), but these do no count toward your total of eight glasses."
