I need something small and easy to store to use to workout in my apartment. I was looking at things you see on tv in infomercials and stuff, and this thing http://www.bodybyjake.com/cardiocruiser/ seems kinda fun and easy. Do you think all this stuff is a rip off, and what would be my best bet to start getting in shape? I already walk about 3 miles a day to and from work, as well as the lifting and walking around at work stocking an entire store 5 nights a week. I'm not very flexible so I'm not looking to yoga or pilates or anything like that, and I'm also not interested in extreme weight training, so no bowflex type things either. Has anyone bought and tried out "As seen on TV" stuff like this?

yep skip the machines and get some videos and some hand weights. Many here used the walk away the pounds to begin with and them moved to Slim in six or SI6 around here check out the idiots video challenge topic in the exercise forum they can tell you what is best. Check out Barbde or Brook for pics of how well those things work.by the book atkinseer

I like using the EFX as my choice of exercise, considering getting one for the house but they are sooooo big that I don't know if I want it in the living area. That cardio cruiser that you put the link for looks like good exercise. I got tired watching her (lol, I don't do the arm on the EFX). If you get it, it may take some time to work up to 30 minutes a day. If you decide to purchase it let us know how you make out with it.

FYI don't discount yoga or pilates because you are stiff! I am extremely stiff myself and my body - especially my back always feels better after after the first week or two and you actually do become more flexible and it strengthens the core.
If you get the Cardio Cruiser let us know how you like it.

First of all, good job incorporating exercise into your life. As Dr. Atkins says, it's non-negotiable!Originally posted by AyriaI'm not very flexible so I'm not looking to yoga or pilates or anything like that, and I'm also not interested in extreme weight training, so no bowflex type things either.
The best exercise equipment I've found is a good pair of shoes so I can get out and walk -- but on rainy days I use a stepper or NordicTrack indoors. No reason to pay full price. As Desertthorn said, you can find a lot of equipment at Goodwill. Also look for a store called "Play it again sports," which sells used equipment and has a lot of that as seen on TV stuff.
But remember, the best exercise program includes cardio, strength training, and FLEXIBILITY. To do only one is a real disservice to yourself. I really started losing weight -- and seeing a difference -- when I started doing Pilates. I recommend the same tape to everyone: Pilates for Dummies. It's cheap, it's easy to follow no matter what your current fitness level, and with just two 25-minute sessions a week it will CHANGE YOUR BODY.female, 33, 5'2"

Resistance bands are good, and take very little room to store.Started Atkins: 21 Sep 2003

I agree on the dumbbells, resistance bands, and videos. You can do amazing things with them!
You might want to check into things like a balance ball, a step, and a rebounder.
The library is a fantastic place to go and get familiar with tons of different exercise videos and it doesn't cost you a thing.
I'm also going to echo the sentiments on flexibility! Strength without balance, stamina, and flexibility is useless! It doesn't have to be something hardcore, but it should be something!

I use the Tony Little Gazelle. It is quite, easy to store and yet it is very durable.Cost is around 250.00 new. Also very, very low impact for those concerned about injuring themselves. It works wonders while watching t.v and for days when you can't walk or run outside. And no I don't work for the company but had some awesome results using this product.I Lost It

Re: What do you use for excersise equipment?
I use hand weights (4.4lbs each) and an ab roller, but mine collapses so that I can store it away, which is great because my old one didnt and just took up large spaces in the house!
I also use fun workout DVDs like Salsa Dancing, Belly Dancing because they're easier for me to keep at
