  • How much of it is water weight lost?

I'm in the home stretch to completing the Induction process and have lost about 12 pounds as of this morning. What's concerning me is that I have to wake up to pee two or three times/night. Is this just water evacuation from my pounding it all day long or is this my body losing more and more of its retained water? I don't FEEL dehydrated, but I don't recall ever having to pee so frequently before--we're talking a 4-5 pound difference between when I weigh in before bed and after I wake up. Odd.

Started Atkins 5/7/06 - before and afters to come when I hit 240!

If you're drinking alot of water all day than that would be why. I try to stop my water after about 7 p.m. or i don't get a good nights sleep.

I wouldn't weight before you go to bed than when you wake up. Choose 1 time of the day and stick with it (most people choose morning) There will always be a difference. I know i usually weight about 4/5 lbs more at night than the morning.

I like to think of myself as a little factory when I'm asleep... like there's a big plume of smoke coming out of my nose while I snore, and I'm burning all that off in the night.

I just posted in another post that a full adult bladder can hold about one pound of water weight at a time. So you're probably moving 2-3 pounds of water in the middle of the night, which would help explain your loss. On the bright side, your kidneys are probably thrilled to have all that water to work with. Helps them out a ton.
No stats. Not weighing anymore ever. Will post "before and after" pictures when I want to. The end.

every thing we add to our body adds "weight" try weighing before a meal and after to see.

The Atkins plan and many atkins acceptable veggies act as natural diuretics to assist you in getting rid of the water you drink and your tissues hold on to. As you progress onyour Atkins your body will adjust and you will not wake up every night to go unless you have a health issue causing you to do so.

water weighs about a pound a pint so you can see you drink alot of weight each day.

is there an amount of water that is too much?

does it end up washing nutrients out of your system?

Yes, but I dont think any of us are in danger. We have many cases during hot summer when construstion workers ( many endless hours outside sometimes 95+F) drink tons of water but still losing most of it.... and then dehydrated and fainting on the roofs losing alot of sodium/potassium together with water.

Thats why coal miners used to drink salt water..

If you are in ketosis and started at 270lbs, I'd say probably 8lbs of your 12lb loss is water. Just an estimate, as at 201, when I started I lost about 6lbs in the first 3 days or so. So you're probably down 4lbs of fat, congrats!
