  • HELP: Calling all those who have 20 pounds or Less to loose

    Hi All,

I am interested in hearing from anyone who had 20 pounds or less to loose who has been successful, for any tips or advice. I am currently on day 11 of a clean induction and have lost no weight at all I am getting really frustrated. I am exercising vigourously 4 times a week drinkking 4-5 litres of water a day and taking my supplements. I wonder if I should now be counting calories as well and restricting them. Please let me know. Maybe you could review my menu too.

I have something between 10-15 pounds to loose (I have not weighted myself since I am on bootcamp since last week)
Do you drink coffee? it seems to stalls me
Do you eat cheeses? Same, they stall me.
Is your goal realistic? Do you know your fat percentage? Last time when I did my second week of induction before my wedding, I lost 3 pounds in one week just by not eating cheeses nor drinking coffee...

I eat the allowed 90grams of cheese daily I only drink one cup decaf coffee once every 2 days I will cut out the cheese from tommorrow and see if this helps. Thanks for the tips

So what do you eat ? at the moment am eating mainly fried chicken(without skin) as snacks and with small salad for lunch and dinner and 2 eggs with ham and cheese for breakfast. I also snack on cheese. If I cut out the cheese I'll have to eat maybe veg for snacks.

BMI is currently 22.5 just trying to go down properly one dress size rather than squeezing into it. this task has taken me over 8 and a half months with little success. My progress is so slow that's why I turned to Atkins.

Well, I dont see enough veggies and I am wondering why dont you eat the skin of the chicken? is it because it has breading?
You need to have your veggies and your fat ratio correct if you want to get into ketosis. It is very important to have your veggies. I eat mainly chicken beef or seafood broiled or roasted with veggies dressed with olive oil. I drink 2 cups of decaf a day, eat eggs, I dont eat ham or sausage. And drink a lot of water
        I also exercise 1 hours 5-6 times a week

Re: HELP: Calling all those who have 20 pounds or Less to loose

I do eat 2 small salads a day is that not adequate? I have never liked the skin in chicken or fish that's why I fry the chicken to give me some fat. I have Ketostix and I have been in ketosis from day 2 of my induction this is day 11. I will cut out the cheese and ham and eat more veg and see if this helps .

I work out on average at least 4 days a week on one of those days for 2 hours the rest of the time for an hour and have an hour with my personal trainer a week. I have been working out for 8 and a half months 2 weeks after I had my baby, slowly going from 7 days a week to an average of 4 days a week but increasing the intensity, 2 weeks after I had my baby.

While I have seen an improvment in my shape and have lost a few inches during indution weight on the scales eludes me. I will cut out cheese and ham and up my veggies and see if this helps. Thanks for the support

What day of induction are you on and have you lost any weight?

I lost 3 pounds in 9 days just cutting the cheese and the coffee. With all that exercise you should be losing inches, maybe not pounds, if your fat % is to low dont expect to see the scale go down, it is probably a lot of muscle and no fat.

You want to lose 1 dress size and you've lost some inches already. Frankly, you shouldn't pay attention to the scale. Dr. Atkins wrote that the loss of inches represented the actual loss of fat from your body. Fat is what we all need and want to lose. The scale won't tell you if you are losing fat and gaining muscle or if you are losing fat but retaining some water.

In terms of what you eat. You need to eat a total of 3 cups of Induction vegetables daily, either 3 cups from the "salad list" or 2 cups from the "salad list" and 1 cup from the "other list". The majority of our carbs are to come from those vegetables.

Re: HELP: Calling all those who have 20 pounds or Less to loose

actually if yiou are losing inches you are burning fat and isn't that what you wanted to do lose some fat? the scasle measures the effectr of gravity on your toal body mass be it fluids, fat or muscle mass. On Atkins we morph our bodies shedding fat mass, adding lean muscle mass and fluids are always in a constant state of flux.

iof you started Atkins to drop weight quickly you are mistaken. weight loss is proportional to the total amount of weigh tyou need to lose for somebody needing to lose 20 pounds the 5-10 loss in induction would be 1-2 pounds whil for a 200+ pound need to lose person it would be 10-20 pounds for the same 14 days.

Make sure you are getting your full 3 cups of the acceptable veggies every day by measuring them as carb creep is easy to do whn you eyeball it. Manke sure you are only eating if you are hungry or it has been 6 hrs since your last meal as many folk over eat their Atkins cause the food was legal.

Keep shrinking and don't make any changes till after your full 14 days are up as far as cutting out your dairy as that is a big source of your calcium in induction too.

Thanks for the advice, I will try and eat when I am hungry rather than picking bits and peices throughout the day. and I will make sure I get my 3 cups of veg too.

You are right I think the I will concentrate more on the inches. I am not looking for fast results , just results so even a pound off is a step int he right direction.

Hey Daphne - hope you're still feeling positive. It's true (though painful to do at first), measuring myself has become much more satisfying than weighing myself - have now lost 5 inches off my waist and am on day 8 (too bad I don't wear jeans with waistbands that go anywhere near my waist - I'm no Simon Cowell, after all - but still good!)

I'll bet you're super toned after all your exercise and healthy eating. Am going to step up my exercise a lot (when the weather behaves itself... )

Daphne, I tell the folks here that no one will know how much you weigh unless you walk around carrying a sign that says "Hi. Today I weigh _____ pounds." But they WILL notice that you look smaller and your clothes fit better.

Thank you all, for all the encouragement and common sense you have drummed into me! My friend who had been on holiday for 2 weeks came back and said I had lost a lot of weight!!! that made me feel really good.

I gave up cheese for the day to see if this was stalling me and and even though I fried my chicken to give me some fat I was starving and eating more chicken and veg did not solve this problem and found that I was barely in ketosis. I had to run out and buy some cream. what do you guy's do for fat intake. I am not a butter girl myself, never liked the stuff from when I was a child but bought a tub today as I do not want to feel like I did today again

Olive Oil, love love love it. Blue Cheese dressing, cheese. Those are my fat sources...plus fatty meats like beef and pork and chicken skin. If you don't like the fatty meats and skin, then make sure you cook your meats in olive oil or something like that.
