I'm not complaining, really I'm not, but I've lost 17 lbs. in 17 days since I started Induction. There have been ebbs and flows, for sure(seems like I don't lose anything for a day and then lose two lbs the next) but I'm a little concerned that I might be losing too much, TOO fast. I expected it to taper off after the first week. Is it unhealthy and should or be concerned or just happy and joyous?

Re: Losing TOO fast?
I am so envious, I could rip your eyes out!! Not really! Be happy, be thrilled! It will even out. Just make sure that you are eating enough, in the right percentages, exercising (I know you are!), and drinking water. By the way, bully for you! That success is something to be majorly proud of!

Re: Losing TOO fast?
You're doing great so far. I wish I could have lost that much, but I didn't, so I'll just keep plugging on ahead.
In order to be sure that you are getting enough to eat, why not post a day or two of menus. You can go to www.fitday.com and enter them there. You'll get a carb count and calorie count. Also by entering your weight and a few other things, you'll get information about how many calories your body needs and uses.June Goals
1. Continue with water
2. Use bike more (3x per week would be nice).
3. Continue with videos.
4. Go to the YMCA for water classes.
5. Build stamina for more walking.
Goals for May:
1. Water every day - at least 100 oz.
2. Walk through Wal Mart instead of ride.
3. Post every day.
4. Get the exercise bike out of basement and use it!
5. Re-read DANDR! It's been too long.

Re: Losing TOO fast?
Did the fitday thing for the first week and then it just didn't seem like I needed it anymore. I haven't changed the diet significantly enough to continue chronicling it anyway and I've only added extra tomatoes for rung one. Basically I just make sure that one of my main meels is mostly veggies. So I'll have a chicken caesar salad or tofu salad or salad with SOME sort of meat. Romaine lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber and celery are usually the fillers and I stick to a fairly fatty caesar or ranch dressing. Then the other main meal is 100% meat. Either chicken breasts or burger patties, pork chops, steak, whatever. And I'll intersperse some hard boiled eggs or cheese sticks or lunch meat throughout the day. I was pretty consistantly at the 2,000 calorie mark every day and drinking about 120oz.+ of water every day. I have probably lost some muscle weight but most if it is obviously coming off my thighs, hips and face.
Oh, and I do a multi at night, a calcium supplement and a potassium.Last edited by n0matter; May 23, 2006, 12:33 PM.

Re: Losing TOO fast?
No, that's just PERFECT weight loss, especially for a newbie!!! WTG!!
Now, on the other hand, if you become complacent and stupid, and think you can vacuum up all the carbs in sight because it is so easy to lose again, BE VERY SCARED. Read in the STAC forum about the one "golden shot" you have to lose weight. I'm in the aforementioned stupid category, and losing real slow.
Get to the weight that feels right to you, and that is medically sound, and then enjoy Maintenance. This is a great WOE (Way of Eating) and don't believe the lying carbs crying out to be devoured. You are doing great, keep up your water and supplements and exercise, and watch the weight melt away. My heart rejoices for you. (Aside from the small part of me that ALSO wants to rip your eyes out.)

Re: Losing TOO fast?
Sounds to me like you are doing just fine. Make sure that you get the full 3 cups of veggies in...preferably spread out with all your meals. Since you are doing rung 1, you should be having MORE than 3 cups of veggies. Since you seem to have a fairly low metabolic resistance, you could add a LOT more vegetables if you like them. Try new veggies, served in different ways (look in the recipe forums).
One of my favorite new veggies is Chayote Squash prepared like cinnamon fried 'apples' and I'm going to make some 'applesauce' with them this weekend. What a great way to get 'treats' through a vegetable.
Your weight loss will stabilize...but you'll probably be one of those people who can add a good variety of foods back in and still lose weight. Read all the stickies in the OWL forum, and climb the rungs and enjoy the great food experiment to find out what types of foods you can eat (and in what quantity) and STILL LOSE WEIGHT!
I'm so happy for you!~Joy

Re: Losing TOO fast?
That's never bad! Depending upon what you started at, this will probably indicate that your "metabolic resistance" to weight loss is los, which is a very good sign for the future! Congrats! Stick with it and enjoy the falling numbers!41 yo male, 155lb, 5-6

Yes, it is a proven fact that men lose weight faster and more easily once they embark on this WOE. It's just NOT FAIR!
