  • maximally discouraged....(sigh)....

    Hi,

Well - about two weeks ago had a bad weekend and put on 5lbs. It started with a weird sugar crash.

Anyway - decided to go back into induction. I've been pretty dilligent about keeping my carbs lower than 20. I've been pee-ing on keto sticks religiously. They turn varying shades of purple.

Yet - my weight is unchanged!! I can't figure it out. I've done this before - and it has always worked. Now - two weeks and ...nothing.

Yeserday - I had scrambled eggs for breakfast; steak & eggs for lunch; salad for snack; small steak for dinner; Atkins shake for lunch. That's not my usual eating pattern - but you get the idea. Very VERY low carb.

The only not-by-the-book thing that I do is to have an espresso in the mronign and a few DECAF coffees during the day.

Today - I had two poached eggs over spinach for bkfast. Turkey Salad over lettus & onion for lunch & tuna salad on a plate for dinner.

    Harrumph.

The more often you put your body through the ups and downs of weight loss, the harder it can be. That doesn't mean you should be getting discouraged - just be patient. After what we tend to put our bodies through...well, they may just be getting a little payback

Seriously, you may have to give it a little time. There is a huge list of possible explanations. None of them are going to make you feel any better. Stay on track and see it through!

I, personally, would drop the caffeine, and up the veggies, just a little.

How much water are you getting?

        BINGO!

That's not by the book, well the one ADBB uses .

You should not be having any 'net carbs' food. Only wholefoods. These shakes and bars stall a lot of people.

Thinker, I would post your actual food and beverage intake, in the 'Review my Menu' part of the board here.

Be accurate about the amount of food, (you may want to track it in fit day).

Also of course, exercise levels can be an issue for some. MY weight loss has slowed and I don't exercise.

        I hope this helps

Thanks - I'll post in review my menu.

I have to tell you - I feel awfully stupid. I'm moderately well known among my friends for being an Atkins devotee. I'm on local TV frequently, so it is kind of a "thing". OK - so 10lbs came back quickly. I didn't mind. It wasn't what I wanted - but it was fine. That held for 3 years. Now that this next 10lbs has come up in the last few months - I messed around (up & down). However, I always thought "I knew what to do" to drop it off. Now that I'm making a run at full induction --- it is distressing that it isn't working.

The only bright side - all of a sudden my little test strips have gone from pink to dark purple.

Thanks for the menu suggestion. I'm clearly missing something but have no clue what.

            Only two weeks? Ha!

From one yo-yo to another, that's not enough time to undo the damage. Yes, once in a while we can get the extra pounds off right away, but don't count on it.

On a less grouchy and bossy note, the ketostix could indicate a problem. Hopefully they are purple because you are exercising a lot, but they also get darker if you don't dilute your pee by dirinking lots and lots and lots of water. You need to flush out those extra pounds somehow before they take up permanent residence there and water is one of the best ways to do it.

Keep up the great eating habits (minus the Atkins shake) and you will see a loss eventually. Those shakes and bars always stall me.

Yep, more veggies, no Frankenfood . . . these things should definitely help!

              Good luck!

Wow!! This is an eye-opener on the dark purple sticks. My weight (whcih went down a bit) popped up a bit at the same time the sticks went from being pinkish to PURPLE. Maybe dehydration has something to do with it. I'll suck down some more water now.

I'm dropping the caffeine today - including some green teas instead of coffee. Will cut that down even further.

I liked the "frankenfood"!! I can do w/o those for a bit.

all that being said - I've pulled this trick in smaller ways whenever I went "out of range". However, now that I'm above my top by a bit and I'm watchign carefully - i'm nowhere (he said looking at the floor, making pathetic sounds).

                  Keep-Buggering-On I suppose.

                    Thinker,
                    What about excercise?
I was stuck on a 200lb plateau for about 3 weeks. I was following OWL and was having minimal losses. I kept at it and started the stair climbing challenge. (Although I have been on the stairmaster for a solid 6 weeks) This challenge kicked my weight loss in gear. I busted the plateau bigtime with excercise and lost 8.2 lbs in the last 9 days.
Just something to consider if your stuck in a funk.

                      Hey Jack.

I'm an on & off treadmiller ( a few times a week). It's been a few days. I'll kick it back up to daily (for me that means 6 of 7). My past experience is that exercise helps - but diet is what makes it for me by far.

                      Thanks!!
