  • 10 days keeping motivated

First time in my life I've stuck to a water regimen...only able
to manage about 64 ounces...half of that is crystal light...still staying
    positive...was hoping I would have more energy...less headaches...soon I
hope...just joined the summer onederland challenge...this should keep me
motivaded till at least June 21st...any suggestions on overall water
consumption would be appreciated... NOTTHIN ...

Water consumption should be 64oz plus 8 more for every 25pounds you need to lose in addition 1 water for every other drink you drink and every 1/2 hour of exercise. I drink 160oz of water a day and I am 255pounds!

Give yourself a reliable measuring tool. You need 88 oz, so I'd drink an 8 oz glass every hour on the hour, and not allow yourself your Crystal LIght till you've got 88 oz water in.
What is it, a RACE? It's coming off, right????

It helps me to keep a glass or bottle of water to refill on the go throughout the day. It is a habit to keep your hands busy - rather than raiding the fridge!

Maybe take your own large glass/sippy bottle (12oz or so?) to work to have on your desk if need be - you don't need to drink it all at once!

I find it also helps to start a meal with a large glass of water, and drink throughout - to stop me overeating.

Headaches can be due to sugar/caffeine withdrawal - caffeine withdrawal lasts for ages with me, so I count a cup of tea each day.

Hope it goes well, good luck

Before I stared Atkins 13 days ago I cannot remember the last time I drank water, it made me sick and nausous I lived on diet coke and sugar free squashes which I mixed with water, I had not drank water in months.

I decided to do a clean induction to give my body a chance to break away from this really bad habit. I found a if I did not drink anything else except water in the day , I could drink more. To challange myself I would fill 2 bottles each containing 70 ounces and aim to drink the first one before noon and the 2nd one before I went to bed. I also had a 3rd one if I was going exercising. For someone who never drank any water I now drink 140-175 ounces and I weigh 148 pounds. I find that since I started drinking water, my skin looks great, I am loosing inches and I feel great. When I go out with friends I order sparkling water and up my water intake.

This is is a great accomplishment for me and I have actually found I do get thirsty for water. Atkins has certainly helped form better healthier habits Stick with it is worth it!!!!!

On a totally seperate note Carbaholic I notice we are about the same size I am 5ft 8.5 and weigh 148 I have lost mainly inches and this is my 13th day of induction, I was wondering if or when the scale will follow. I am interested in finding out how you are getting on I am aiming for 132 pounds. Also could you give me an idea what you are eating or not eating as the case may be

NotThin - Just a note that Crystal Light is NOT to be included in your water consumption! It is an add-on! So, at least 64 ounces of water, then you can add Crystal Light or something else. Personally, I down 100 ounces of water while at work )yes, half my time is spent in the ladies' room!!), then I allow myself half a can of diet soda for dinner. Try it out, kiddo!!

              Good luck!

                  Re: 10 days keeping motivated

I keep a sports bottle of water beside me when I am online here and take a swig every time the screen refreshes after I post or move to the next thread.
I find I keep having to refill it without really noticing how much I am drinking!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

I keep a 32 oz water bottle on my desk at work, and make sure I have to refill it 4 times during the day.

It's hard sometimes, but you can do it!!

                        Re: 10 days keeping motivated

I dont think it is available our side of the pond.

                        http://www.kraftfoods.com/crystallight/CL_Products.htm
It seems to be either a powder to mix with water (like the oldfashioned lemonade powder you used to be able to buy in sweet shops if you are old enough to remember that) or a premade canned drink.
Looking at kraft's website most of them seem to be sweetened with aspartame though, not a more 'atkins-preferred' sweetener.

Just wanted to let you know that I've been having a hard time with the water too. Just so you know you aren't alone. I have 16 oz water bottle at work and I try to fill it at least 4 times a day. I also try to get down two cups before I go to work. By the time I am done, I slow down --don't want to be up all night on the potty. But it isn't easy for me either!! Stick with it, I've heard that once you get used to it, it's not hard at all to drink that much water.
