  • Are the last few inches harder to loose?

I've been overweight most of my life. I can't ever remember a time when I was normal weight. This means that from the time I was 10 years old until now I've ALWAYs had a significant amount of weight to loose.

This is one reason I wanted Atkins. I wanted to try something new since nothing has every worked.

    I'm wondering two things:

    1. Since I've had this CORE weight all my life is it going to be harder to loose? Is there anythign special about this adipose tissue vs the pounds I've gained over the last 5 years?

    2. What about skin reduction? Will I just shrink and look find? I was watching Oprah the other day (don't laugh) and it reminded me that some people need skin reduction surgery. How overweight do you have to be for you to need this surgery? How much will my skin shrink?

    Thanks!

Re: Are the last few inches harder to loose?

You know what I have been obese my whole life even as a toddler, and I lost 85 pounds after my first baby and the skin seemed to be going back into place.
This time I have lost 50 pounds since November and it seems to still be going back into place though I still want to lose 130 pounds or so more I often wonder this myself will I need skin reduction surgery.

There are many thoughts on this, it is beleived that several factors come into play such as age, weight, genetics, diet, and exercise! Some people beleive that the people who have that kind of hanging skin still have a great% of body fat, and does your skin have enough collegen and elastin in it.

Well what I am trying to say there is only one way to find out we have to do it- and cross that bridge when we get to it. I am as interested as you to know the answer to this question.
