  • Normal/thin waist measurements?

    I'm down to a 34" waist now.......

What should my goal be? I guess this is personal of course but I'm trying to shoot for a thin physique...

Any idea here? Google doesn't show much on the subject.....

It really depends on your bone structure, physique, etc. What is your weight, height, build? I'm 6' 203lbs., medium build, shooting for 190lbs. and I've just started wearing some sz.34 pants from tight sz.36 (and some sz. 38 ). Years ago when I dropped to 180lbs. (diet and LOTS of exercise), I wore sz. 32.

I think I'm about 190 now..... I'm on vacation so don't have access to a scale......

I'm now a 34" waist but STILL feel I have a bunch left to loose. I still have a lot of fat left... By my estimate I'm only 1/2 -> 2/3rds of the way done....

Very strange feeling significantly thinner but still realizing you have a lot more left to loose.

Luckily I have Dr Atkins on my side

I know how you feel Kevin. I'm starting my fourth week of extended induction and I've dropped from 210 to 200 lbs. My goal is 190lbs but I'm sure when I get there I'll want to drop to 180-185. I'd like to fit in sz. 33 pants comfortably. The spare tire is shrinking but it's still there!

        Have a great vacation!

We're in about the same position... I started at about 210..... I'm 60 days in and I'm about 190 and I can fit into a size 33 now.... . Stick to it and you'll get there!

But yeah...... I'm ALMOST to my goal but I still feel I have a chunk left to loose..... This diet works soooooo fast though and is soooo easy to stick with it WILL happen

            Re: Normal/thin waist measurements?

I'm only 5-6 and a few years ago I weighed nearly 210 and was wearing huge pants (I think they were 40 inch waist). I dropped down to 139 (at the lowest) at which time I was wearing 31 inch jeans comfortably and could squeeze into 30 inch. I stuck with the 31 and let my weight get to 145, whch I maintained for a while.

Lately my weight crept back up to 163 (OUCH) and I was finding the 32 inch jeans getting tight, so I'm on induction again, looking to get back into my 31s.

I think for me 31 is about right. 30 would be better, but I probably have to fall to 135lb for that, maybe a bit lower, and that's probably too light. At 139 too many people were telling me I looked too thin. I thought it was fine, but I'll probably never be completely satisfied. So I'm thinking 31 is right at 145lb.

            Start: 165 now: 155 goal: 140

            About 160lb

Yeah, it's amazing how fast one can lose weight on Atkins. 190 will feel great as I haven't been that low since I was 26 (36 now). I do alot of cardio but need to weight train though. Once my basement is done (being finished) I'll break out the weight bench.

My advice - just go to the real gym.

Being around other people is REALLY motivating.

Also... the REAL equipment you need you can't afford ... You'd need to spend $12k on the right stuff.

Also... The Wanna Be Big Forums are pretty good if you want to really get into weight lifting.

As soon as I trim up here and hit my target I'm goign to start to hit the weights again... Going to try to bench 200lbs

                  Re: Normal/thin waist measurements?

Yeah, the gym is a better setting and definitely more motivating. I was a regular at the gym prior to becoming a dad. My wife and I are going to get a family pass at the local YMCA. They have childcare there while you work out which is cool.

I play soccer twice a week and use the treadmill 4x/week so my cardio is ok. Just need to strength train.
