  • Someone out there please help!!!

I need help!!, I am quite depressed...... I did a clean induction for 2 weeks eating mainly salad, eggs, chicken and cheese and a little cream and drinking 147-175 ounces of water working out viigourously 5 hours a week cardio for 30min and weights and core work for 30min each time. I took all my vitamin supplements and every time I used fitday I was within my limits. I lost inches but I think for the amount of effort I have put in also compared to what my eating habits were prior to Atkins I expected to see more dramatic changes and I guess my expectatons were not met. I lost inches but actually gained a pound. I also note that I never get dark purple ketostix others get mine are always light pink I do not know if it is because of the amount of water I drink

I have recieved various explanations for this

    1) It is because of my weight training that I see no results on the scale.

    2) It is because I have less than 20 pounds to loose

    3) some people cannot handle Dairy (cheese & cream)

    4) Too many calories to stick to 1000 or less

I decided to continue on induction to see if this would change I also modified my exercise program to do 45 min of cardio and 15 of weight training. I have removed cheese and cream from my diet for the time being. I have been at this same weight for 8 months and even if it is a very slow weight loss on the scale, I need to see it as I am very close to throwing in the towel. yester day and today I had atkins bars and an extra serving of splenda because I am simply not gettting enough motivation from my results . I actually do not have too much a of a problem with the induction food but why do al this for such minimal results. My goal is to drop one dress size or loose 16 pounds whatever comes first.

I read all these posts about people loosing weight, loosing inches dramatically and all I can think is what about me? what am I doing wrong even people of a similar size seem to have made good progress. When I have asked friends on Atkins for advice, those with similar size and a similar amount to loose, I find that they were eating very little between 500- 1000 calories for the whole of inductionand got results. Posts here do not seem to encourage that so I am confused . My metabolic resistance is high but I am sure it can be overcome. Someone out there please help!!! I am prepared to do what ever it takes.

Whats your goal? Do you want to look smaller? If so who cares what the scale says if you are smaller.
Addition of musle can add pounds.
Dairy can be a staller to people(You are not in a stall if you are smaller)
If you are shrinking it is working!
With only 20lbs to loose it will be a little slower.
Good luck it will all be ok

Wow Daphne. You must be really frustrated. I feel for you!
The only thing that I can say from my experience, having 20 pounds left to lose, is that it is NOT easy. With your exercise though, I am sure you are building muscle. And I know that doesn't make you feel any better than it makes me feel. I did go for body fat testing though, and even though with the weight training I did gain pounds, I lost body fat. Which, in all reality is the real end goal, right?
As far as the ketostix. It is my understanding that if the stix change color at all, you are in ketosis. Doesn't matter the shade.
I would definitely NOT cut your calories to that low. It is just not healthy.
Sorry I can't be more help. Someone more knowledgable will be along I am sure. It is a weekend, and a holiday weekend, so it may take a little longer for the response you are looking for. Hang in there!!

Re: Someone out there please help!!!

You know there are tons of reasons why you might not be losing:

Some folks think they can do this and also do low fat. Doesn't work.

Some folks don't eat enough food. If your in starvation mode, your body hangs on to fat.

Some folks try Atkins Shake and bars as meal replacements. Wrong answer.

Some folks are so stressed about losing, they don't lose just because of the stress.

So post what your eating on an average day, or yesterday and let the experts take a gander cause it might be something that you are not seeing that they can.

        We can do this.

I live in the UK does anyone know where I can go to get my body fat tested. Do those body fat monnitors that look like scales work? can anyone recommended a good one?

              Aww. I hear your frustration. {{{{{{huggles}}}}}

All I can say is maybe you need a break from your scale and tape measure. You sound a bit obsessed. I can understand why, we all want those pounds gone yesterday--but for your own sanity, ditch the scale.

Hide it in a closet, bury it under something, give it to a neighbor, let a family member hang on to it--whatever you have to do to keep yourself off it. Keep doing what you are doing, you are doing awesome. Seriously, I wouldn't be able to keep up with you! Get in touch with how you feel inside your skin--not what the numbers on the scale and tape measure say.

Only when you completely forget there is such a thing as a scale and feel healthy and georgeous (and I bet you are already ^.^) dig it out and then weigh in. More then likely, you'll be suprised. Even if it doesn't say you have lost a thing--you'll realize that you feel awesome and that's all that really matters.

We'll help. While I've only been doing Atkins for a short amount of time, I think that people can become obsessed. I know that I have been. I know that I need to take my own advice when I say Relax a little. It's sounds like you are doing alot of exercise which is AWESOME. Your losing inches, forget the scale.
                Hope I helped.

I think the scales in Boots are pretty good, they measure fat % and other things I think. I havent personally used one though, sorry. The thought of weighing myself at any other time than first thing in the morning scares me!!
