  • Muscle Loss???

After months of struggling with Atkins, I have discovered that I can only lose weight when I keep my fat above 80%. Since my fat has to be so high...my protein is really low. Does this mean I am burning muscle??? I do resistance training 4x's a week and although I have lost some weight I am really concerned I am losing muscle. If anyone knows anything about this I would really appreciate some information.

    Please help! Thanks

    Re: Muscle Loss???

Have you had your body fat measured to be sure you are not adding lean body mass as you shed inches of fat? with your stats you only have 25 pounds to go to goal weight ans with 7 already gone have shed 21% of the weight you say you need to lose. Remember speed of loss is realavant to amount needed to lose.

how much you eating? remember Atkins high protein is higher then the USDA's and at 80% fats you are still almost double the USDA's protein intake.

Well, I need to lose some of the muscle I currently have, so if you want, you can borrow it for a while, to see if you like it, and then, I'll let you lease to own. I am too buff for how I want to look, and I can't seem to find a way to reduce the size of my muscle, to get that slender, bishounen looking body I have been longing for.

Hahaha. That's great! I would love to lease your muscle...particularly in the legs & abs!

I will be researching protein all day....there so much to learn!

Leg muscle, I got.. Dance Dance Revolution, works wonders. Give it a shot sometime.

Stomach... well, I got abs in there somewhere... (beer reference) I think I got a 6-pack, hiding behind the keg...

            Re: Muscle Loss???

That doesn't make any sense to me. Induction basically reprograms your metabolism to look to fat as your primary source of fuel. So you're saying that consuming MORE fat helps you LOSE weight? When I overkill on the dressings and mayos, I have the total opposite reaction. There's too much fat in the food I eat for my body to need more of it(and consequently dig into fat stores) and so I end up feeling bloated and dehydrated trying to flush all of the excess out of my system. It's already been stated that your SW and goal create a relatively short trip. The less weight you need to lose, the slower you're going to lose it. So if you're still dropping a few pounds/month, I don't see what the problem is.

Hmmm....I just find that my body really struggles to lose weight and that the oly way I could lose weight was by increasing my fat...to about 80% instead of 65%. I'm not sure why this works, it just seems to do better for me.
