Re: Anyone Else Experience This Too?

And therein lies your problem. You need to move to OWL. Your body is going into starvation mode. You WILL lose in OWL. Elizellen is very well informed on this - send her a PM and I'm sure she will advise you. Check out the OWL thread.
The people who lose a lot at first have more to lose, like me. I was facing wanting to lose 54% of my body weight at the start. Of course it melted off. But it has slowed right down and after my accident I gained back 3.8 kgs (from 101.5 to 105.3 - I was very disappointed). But it's on the way down now.
Over the 9 months my loss averages just 1.6 lbs per week. A bit more than you, but not too much.
I spent only 2 weeks on Induction and moved right in to OWL. I eat masses of vegetables and have nuts a couple of times a week and in summer berries and cream for treats once or twice a week. Stop depriving yourself and try OWL.
It may help to cut any processed foods from your diet, including all meats (other than bacon) which are not fresh (this includes deli meats, salamis etc). Try to cut salt and dairy (I avoid cheese but have it occassionally) and definitely give up any diet sodas etc.
        Good luck.

Re: Anyone Else Experience This Too?

Are you in extended induction or have you moved to OWL? I was in extended induction thinking that I would lose quicker but I didn't. I moved into OWL and my weight loss has sped up...not up to light speed like some other weight losers, but enough to make me feel like I am making progress and that staying on plan is still worthwhile...oh yah, I also count total carbs as opposed to net carbs, while others may benefit from having the flexibility to deduct fiber in foods, I find that it allows me to eat way too many carbs for my body during the day and it actually makes me hungry...I also make sure that my fat intake is around 70% of my total calories...I know that for many people heavy whipping cream stalls them, but for me it really rev's up my metabolism. I also don't eat very many veggies with dinner (I do eat them at b-fast and lunch) because I tend to eat dinner around 7:30 or 8:00 at night...of course then I go to bed usually at 9...I don't like having to digest many carbs while I am sleeping.

I know this post has been a mish-mash of ideas, but I just wanted to give you as many ideas as possible...work your plan and customize it to make it work best for your body.

I totally agree that you need to move into OWL. My weight has been FLYING off me in OWL.

What's the worst that can happen? You could slow down some more...or you could find the pounds start coming off as your body rewards you for it!!! If you do find you slow down even further, or stall, you can always go back to induction.

I'd give it a chance though, you might be pleasantly surprised. Give rung one (more veggies) a two week chance and see what happens.

Re: Anyone Else Experience This Too?

Yep... OWL might just be the way to go. But on the plus side: slow weight loss is much kinder on the skin, which has to shrink too. Less loose skin wrinkles.

But, boring as it may sound, it's direction that counts, not speed.

Re: Anyone Else Experience This Too?

HI all, thanks for all the input. My problem is, that after about 4 weeks of ongoing induction, I decided to add that handful of nuts your supossed to add to the diet, well I did that and the scale jumped 3lbs.I stopped immediately.I'm honestly afraid to add more carbs, as I am not loosing very well with just 20 limited carbs.See how this frustrates me?Any help?

Re: Anyone Else Experience This Too?

Perhaps you're right, it is the nuts. In that case, lose them and try upping your carbs a different way. I'm pretty sure the veggie rung is next after induction anyway. You have to work the rungs for it to work.

Re: Anyone Else Experience This Too?

Hi Diva, I am in the same position as you. I started January 23 and have lost 20 lbs. thus far (18 actually with the water bloat I am holding right now). I just got back from walking non-stop in Disney/Universal for a week and come home heavier than I left. It can be fustrating to see the others just sailing by but I am happy for them none the less. I look at it this way, 16 lbs or 20 lbs. is just that, we are way better off now then we were in Jan or Feb of this year had we not started Atkins. Hope the whoosh fairy hits both you and I soon.
                    Hugs!

Why not move to the veggie rung of OWL and start adding 5 net carbs of your induction veggies?
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Maybe look on the induction list and try one you havent eaten yet? That would make an adventure of it

What kind of nuts? Peanuts stall me, but then again, they are not really nuts either. I hope you are not starving yourself because if you are, you won't lose, induction or owl. Make sure you're getting some fat. Atkins without fat won't work.
