  • I've blown it. :(

Today was a horrible stressful day, and tonight I screwed up bad. I ate a burger and fries from burger king.......and to make matters worse, I also ate a blizzard from Dairy Queen. I feel like I have blown it bad. I reverted back to my old "eat when I am stressed" ways, and now I feel so gross.

    Re: I've blown it.

You are about the millionth person on here who has gone through it so it isn't like you are some oddball It is common to have setbacks. Sadly, it is rather uncommon for people to immediately apply the brakes. I encourage you to gather your resolve and immediately get back on track. Be prepared for the tough mental challenges that come with it and deal with them any way that works for you. If you allow yourself another day or even another meal, you will find it is a hundred times harder to find your way back. I wasted months of half way trying to talk myself into picking up the pieces and it was torture! I hate to see others go through it but only you can make the choice. (((((hugs)))))

Exactly. Pick yourself up, dust off, have a big glass of water and move on right now. The next thing you eat will be back on plan.

        Re: I've blown it.

Thanks you two. I am so scared that if I get back on the scale tomorrow it is going to be back over the 200 range.

But I am eating nothing else tonight, just drinking water before bed. Back on plan as of right now.

          Re: I've blown it.

It may go over and if it does, it'll go back down again. My weight flucuates all the time. I had a cheat and nothing happened. Another time i didn't do anything wrong and gained 2 pounds. It works out in the end.. Try not to weigh yourself tomorrow.

            Blown it??!!
Over a burger and fries?? No way.
Kick yourself in the bottom, once, grab your water and make sure the next thinsg you eat are on plan. You oopsed. That's all. If you really feel like you need some punishment, double your exercise tomorrow. Just don't do what many of us have done and say "well, heck, I might as well eat whatever I want since I messed up today already" You haven't blown it. Each day is not a unit of measuremnet onto itself. Each time you eat is. If you feel hungry this evening, well, I am posting late I guess, eat your veggies or something else on plan, the last thing you want is to wake up starved with low blood sugar and oops in the morning too. What's done, is done. Now, get back to it. Don't weigh for the next few days. just keep on truckin' sweets! You can deeeewwww eeeeet!! :

You know mslisa, just climb back on the train with the rest of us. I was watching television tonight and I couldn't get over the number of ads there are for food... Its constant constant food! I had to turn the darn thing off. I swear its a conspiracy. We have to stay strong. So stay strong eh? Right? Right!

                Re: I've blown it.

Try to work out in your mind that you will occaisonally go off plan for a meal, say once every 2 weeks, that way when you do it you are prepared to deal with it.
My advice, DON'T GET ON THE SCLE TOMORROW!!!
Exercise a little extra for the next few days and work your way back onto the plan.
I have found that I'm better off guaging my weight by how my clothes fit and how I look and feel. The scale does not always relate the big picture!

Last week I was able to fit into a pair of "Intermediate Goal" pants that I havn't worn since March of 2005. The reason I know it was March 2005 is beacause a paystub was in my pocket. I bet I weighed the same for the last couple of weeks but I have actually gone from a size 36 to a size 34 and dropped 2 notches on my belt. The scale can play mindgames with your head.

Remember, everyone here is in the same boat, so the support is here!
Have a great day tomorrow and report back with your new vigor and resolve!

Atkineers don't play these kinds of punishment games. Eat a healthy meal tonight. Thats the best thing you can do after cheating. With your next bite, get back on Atkins.

It sounds like you let yourself get hungry. Stay full of healthy food, and leave no room for carbage.

How we talk to ourselves is so important. You haven't blown it. You had a little speed bump and now you are back track. Affirm only the positive. Thats what you will make true for you.

I only said that b/c it was around 9:30-10:00pm, and I try not to eat this late if I can help it.

And thanks for all your support everyone. You all are the best.

                      Re: I've blown it.

Kind of like what happened with me and the Chinese food.....I FELT like I had blown it but all these great people have already been doing this for a long time have assured me that it happens and that you make the best of it and just keep on with the Atkins Way with the next bite or drink...........I myself for having to eat meat and veggies that had those sauces on them ......but in the end, even though I felt bad.....I realized that everyone was right.....it was just a speed bump and the best thing to do was to just accept it, suck it up, and get right back on the track......I did and I felt better...better about what had happened (my acceptance of it) and better about myself again for being able to stay strong and just continue with it..........

                      So hang in there!

I don't think you can change the fact that you'll always be a stress eater, I'm one too. Don't knock yourself out over it, it happens. Just get back on the plan. Even if you can't change your stress eating problem, You can change what you eat when your stressed. My binge foods seem to center red meat and cheeses now with some low carb junk like ice cream thrown in for the sweet factor.
