  • Aspartame...is it allowed?

Hi...I am in my first week of induction. I am trying to stay away from diet sodas, but do drink an occasional soda sweetened with Splenda (Suraclose). I really love Crystal light but it is sweetened with Aspartame. My question is... Is aspartame allowed on Atkins? Does it affect weight loss?

The difference between try and triumph is just a little umph!

    Re: Aspartame...is it allowed?

From the list of allowed foods
We discourage the use of aspartame (marketed as NutraSweet and Equal) because of clinical observations that it slows weight loss in certain individuals
If you do decide to use sweeteners dont forget there is a maximum of 3 servings per day - which in 'diet drinks' usually means one serving = 8 fluid ounces of sweetened drink.
So keep a count of any sweetener you are using in all your drinks or foods and stick to the 3 servings a day maximum
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
