  • Help please - quick!

    Hi - am a bit down in the dumps for many different reasons today (not least the weight stall and the skinny gorgeous Eva Longoria-like girl strutting round the office eating choccie bars to her thin hearts' content).
    But to add insult to injury, for some reason it's cake day - they are literally all over the desks surrounding me and they look amazing - apple turnovers, do-nuts, eclairs, choccies, meringues and so forth.
    I really want comfort food - I am not hungry - just had a prawn-mayo and feta salad and a Babybel - but my sweet tooth has reared it's ugly head and it's making me tetchy that I can't have these things (am going to take one to give to my boyfriend instead). Plus I feel bloaty and like I have a muffin waistband going on.
    Probably just TOM stuff - but that is really of no comfort right now...I want a donut (I'm not going to have one, but I am sure bad-tempered now). Everyone looks so happy that's eating the cakes - even the overweight people just have the attitude that they should just enjoy themselves, as there are more important things in life, which is a very appealing argument right now.

    Sorry to offload, will be back to my cheery self soon, I hope.

    Everyone looks so happy that's eating the cakes - even the overweight people just have the attitude that they should just enjoy themselves, as there are more important things in life, which is a very appealing argument right now.

    I remember being one of those "happy people" stuffing myself with donuts, cake, pie, etc, then suffering with irritable bowel syndrome and migraine headaches afterwards, not knowing what on earth caused them ... (DUH)...felt like crap because I ate crap... TRUST ME, those people are not happy because they are compromising their long-term health by eating that stuff. Is that what you want? A moment's pleasure paid for with long-term effects?

    Go and make yourself something LEGAL and satisfying .. there are tons of great recipes out there ... here's a link to a fabulous site: http://users3.ev1.net/~fontlady/ If you can't find it there, it doesn't exist.

    Come on, you are so much worthwhile than a donut!!

      Hold on, girl! You can do it. It's Friday - you don't have to see these people again until Monday, right? After work, get something special to make for yourself as a treat. Something fatty too, something to really satiate those TOM cravings. You'll feel better.

      And 'ya know what, come Monday, when they look a little fuller, a little plumper, you'll look super! Keep the target in sight!

          Is there someone around who can give you a hug??
          Can you sneak off somewhere and hug YOURSELF?
          I know....sounds goofy, but it really works!

          I have two sisters who are drop dead gorgeous, beautiful size 0 toned bodies, never exercise and always eat truckloads of crap...and the advice I have for you is to focus that envy energy into self-love energy...keep your eyes on the goal and focus on YOU and being on your own side.

          You'll make it through this day, feeling proud and strong for resisting what is POISON to your body!! You will you will!!!

          EDIT: Oh, oh, and I just want to add, for future reference - a dropper or two of kava kava tincture will do WONDERS for PMS/TOM grumpiness and down-in-the-dumpiness.

          I've been on this weight loss journey a loooooong time, I have a LOT of things in my arsenal to combat comfort eating ....!!

            If i were you I wouldn't take a piece of anything home to bf either...I know it's a nice gesture, but if your really craving, I'd say having it around you at home, taking it home in your car, etc isn't going to make it any easier to resist. And i'm sure he'll live w/o it too

              You know what works for me? I know it might sounds stupid, but if you can, go to the restroom and get some hand lotion in your hands and smell it.... You know the scent makes me feel like I am pampering myself (I have the vanilla one I luv the smell). You dont have to eat to pamper your self. Those persons that eat like that and are overweight are not happy. Trust me. I used to be one of them. You are taking care of yourself and it takes courage and determination, and at the end you will see wonderful results.
              And in any case if you have to eat something , eat something legal (I ate pork rinds and little pieces of steak just before TOM, I know YIKES! but It was legal stuff)
              Dont throw away your wonderful effort to a clean, lean and healthier you for a quick fix, you are stronger than cake and food. Cake is not even close to you when it cames to strenght!

                You'll be PISSED at yourself if you take even a bite. A few minutes of food is not worth the hours of being depressed because you gave in. Don;t take anything home, just leave it.

                Better yet, tell your coworkers you have a stomach ache and don't feel well and go home. Start the weekend early and get away from that crap!

                  well since we know you have resisted and are being called by those high carb cake sirreens to be dashed on the cake carbs

                  try this
                  stare at the cake close your eyes and cut a big piece and slap it on your hip then another for the other hip and so on until you have added the cake pounds to your fat places. see you skipped the horrible sick feeling of eating the stuff and jacking up your blood sugar so you could feel induction flu again and you can just open your eyes and "shower" off those pounds real easy.

                  next you can take a piece and head for the bathroom everyone will think yuyou are going to eat it and purge but you can just smash it up squish it between your fingers and then toss it out flush it if you'd ever be tempter to dumpster dive for it later as one ADBBer did. Now wash off your carbs and go enjoy being the healthier smaller person you are who will be able to work this afternboon while the others are addle brained from the sugar.

                  As a alst resort get a piece to take home "accidently" drop it in the parking lot behind your car and runover it on your way home! destroying those high carb sireens calling your name is so much more fun them giving in and allowing them to make you sick and destroy your hard work working your Atkins!
