  • New Vitamins?

So, I've been using CarbSmart as my primary source of vitamin supplement and can't find them anymore for whatever reason.

Does anyone know what happened, if anything, and any reliable sources? If not what does everyone else use as their daily multi for this WOL?

    Thanks in advance,

I use Puritan's Pride vitamins. Currently Green Source w/o iron. Find them at www.vitamins.com

I have also used Shaklee Vita-Lea, these are very good but very expensive.

I don't know why you can't find them, I still see them with the rest of the One-a-day vitamins. i use Vitamin Shoppe brand multi without iron. i've also used Centrum Silver (no iron). Personally, I think the carbsmart label is little more than a gimmick. I take a B-50 vitamin with my multi and that surpasses the biotin and other things carbsmart adds. If they're working for you, then pay no mind to my opinion of course. I've seen them in Target in Copiague, also Walgreens and those pharmacies.

I use Trader Joe's brand they have a decent multi vit, primrose and calcium and honestly I am not going to take anything else..
I figure your body can only use soooo many things and I would rather spend money and eat a bunch of different kinds of food to get what I need ..I just toss those supplements in for good measure

            Re: New Vitamins?

I just bought these Oil of Olay vitamins that have all sorts of crap. Uhhh... CoQ10, multi-vitamin, vitamin e, and some sort of green tea lipoic(?) pill.
Well see what happens. They're for wellness and "beyootiful skin".

Anyone else have any experience with these?

Same problem here. They've all disappeared. The space they used to be in is gone.

I'm curious, what is wrong with iron in the supplements?

You're already getting plenty in your diet, and like many things too much is NOT better.

                        Re: New Vitamins?

I take the Target brand men's daily multivitamin and their Calcium 600 supplement. DH and I compared the men's to the women's formula and the major difference is no iron and slightly reduced calcium. So I take 1 extra calcium tablet on the days with no exercise and 2 on the days that I do (as calcium is used for muscle function and not just bone function).

People (my mother included) are often freaked out that I take a men's vitamin, but there are no hormones or other assorted "cooties" on the label. Works just fine for me.
No stats. Not weighing anymore ever. Will post "before and after" pictures when I want to. The end.

                          Re: New Vitamins?

To make sure there's good variety of macro and micronutrients in my diet without having to scrutinize the nutrients in what I eat, I've taken a varying assortment of supplements for years, with emphasis on B complex, antioxidants, minerals and metabolism boosters. I shop for approaching pull-date markdowns at GNC and other health stores, and recently expired lots on EBAY, plus the occasional flea market. I try not to pay more than $2/bottle unless I desire and am out of a particular item. I avoid brands made of bark or leaves rather than extracts, as well as types requiring multiple units more than once per day. I store them in the freezer to keep them from degrading, so I stay stocked up, and vary which brands and which nutrient assortment I take from week to week.
