This is normal!!! Your last 15 pounds may take a while, but you want that time for your body to adjust and make it PERMANENT!! You have done so well . . . 80 pounds in 6 months?!?! Be patient. These last few pounds will come off!

    Be proud of your accomplishments!!

congrats in the great job you are doing morphing your body. remember each pound now represents a much larger percent of your needed to lose weight 6.66% now 0.83% before so it is more valuble when shed.

HOpe you are doing well in OWL climbing those rungs getting ready for the move to premaintnenance in 5 pounds.

Congrats on your wonderful shrinkage! I know about losing those last pounds...takes forever, just when goal is in sight and you want the loss to speed up. But... they will come off, and when they do, you'll look back and it'll seem like they went in no time at all!

Looking forward to seeing you in maintenance!

Re: 15 Lbs From Goal and Loosing slow

You're doing great. I've been told that the final 20 pounds are slower. I was stuck on the same weight for over 9 months, but I didn't let it get to me too much cause I was having medical issues and using lots of meds and doing less exercise. However, instead of being depressed or frustrated over not moving along as fast as you did, use this time to really evaluate your weight loss plan. Maybe you need to bump up the exercise routine, practice better portion control or just relax and let it happen. I started losing this past month in spite of the meds and abscense of exercise...my body has caught up and started losing again.

Hang in there, re-evaluate and don't give up. "Slow weight loss" is better than "No weightloss"!!

Your weightloss is awesome, but statistics show far more success keeping the weight off if you go into the OWL phase and go up the rungs to prepare you for eating the rest of your life when you get this close. Your weight loss may even pick up a little on rung 1 if your body has been on EI long enough to increase your metabolic resistance.

Some folks lose all their weight on EI, but don't learn about their body well enough to eat in the real world afterwards and gain it all back. (I did, once - and got back extra)

Re: 15 Lbs From Goal and Loosing slow

i have a great deal of self control, and i love this way of eating, I am only 18 yrs old and alot of people my age eat fast food 24-7 and anything on the go and i have not given in 1 time, no desire to.... so i think im going to be fine keeping this weight off....
                  =) thanks for your advice

i think id like to loose 5 more lbs before starting the rungs.....

that would put me 10 lbs from goal

One suggestion that I would like to make is to think of it as changing your life-style instead of having self-control or will-power.

If you give yourself a positive thought that this is a positive permanent change in your life...then it will give you more motivation to stick to it. You sound like a very smart teen...I wish I'd displayed the great attitude you have when I was your age..it would have saved me a half a life-time of letting food control me.

Best wishes!! You can and will do this!! Please continue to keep us posted on your success.

Re: 15 Lbs From Goal and Loosing slow

I know you think you can control it but it is much better to start OWL with weight to lose and the protection of deep ketosis appetite suppression something you lose when you move to premaintnenance with 10 pounds to do.

You have done a phenominal job of laying your foundation for your Atkins house of eating and now you need to put up the framing testing the timbers ( the different rungs) for compatability with your metabolism. Take your time and do a good quality job so you don't have any serious defects in your framing that will cause your house of Atkins eating to crash down on you at goal. Pleas4 go read the STAC forum. there are folk in there who made it to gaol weight didn't do all the phases ballooned back up and just can't get back down cause they can't stick to the plan. It would be a shame if you became one of them too when you got a chance right now to fix it.

Hey, you can still have fast food......dont omit this entirely from your diet.Dr ATkins says numerous times that a fast food cheeseburger or hamburger without the bun or ketchup is just fine. Add some bacon too.I myself buy the sugar free w/ splenda ketchup and add it myself when I get home. It tastes great, you can eat with your friends out and its on the diet.Keep going, you'll be there in no time.

Being 18 is a wonderful time for experiencing all the eateries. You don't have to deprive yourself. In most places there will be something you can eat right on up the rungs. Quite a lot are even induction friendly:
If you've got a (non-dieting) buddy or a kid, you can have a part of the food onto your plate & pass the rest of the meal to him/her.
                            Where............for you...................for them
                            McD's - bacon, egg & cheese;........biscuit
...........burger patty & cheese........rest of once a dbl cheeseburger
............big breakfast eggs, sausage.....hash browns, hotcakes
                            Wendy's.....salad bar..................whatever
B-King........low carb (no bun)........regular menu item
Pizza (any).....some toppings........pizza with less toppings
                            Taco Bell..........taco salad filling........extra tortilla
                            Dunkin Donuts.....scrambled egg.............biscuit

A Pub ( NOT FOR YOU YET!).............lite beer or wine............whatever
