I ask this question because I have a tanita scale and today at 4:30 pm it gave me like 1.2 pounds more than last time i weighted myself. Then I went to the restroom and the scale went down like 1 pounds, it is crazy, I guess first thing in the morning is better, I dont know, maybe I am overeating,I am in my first week of owl and I feel so sad, after all my effort. My husbands chocolates are calling my name but I prefer to cry myself to sleep than eat them,Today was an awful day
Oh I am sorry,I could not wait, but today was an awful day and the scale was calling me,how it is possible i am heavier after all those workouts and eating so correct, not cheating, water is ok evreithing
today was a very depressing day, I am normally so happy but today weas not the best of days
I have to get myself together!
I always weigh at least 4-5 lbs more in the afternoon and evening than I do in the morning. Do NOT torture yourself like that. ONLY weigh in the morning, naked, AFTER you've gone to the bathroom! LOL
I'm sorry you are having an awful day. Do NOT let that scale make it even worse. It'll be fine in the morning. (((((((((((Bella))))))))))))

QUIT SMOKING JULY 23, 2006 while on Atkins
I know, I had to put my DH my best face, someone was awful mean today to me, but you know how female rivalry goes, and me the nicest fool, took it! Ughhhhhhhhhhhhh
I will weight myself tomorrow morning, naked and after peing to see how it goes, thanks! I wont quit, I wont!
Scales are not the enemy. Some of us need data for motivation, others don't. I weighed myself every day over the past 3 months (I lost 45 pounds). Some days I went up 3 pounds, other days I noticed big drops. I learned this:
- Weigh in the morning. Your body has zeroed out so to speak by the time you've woken up (and used the restrooms). Weighing yourself mid-day is just not a good idea, because you'll have food in your stomach that you have not yet digested, and in order to keep the scale down you'll start eating less food which doesn't really work on Atkins.
- Sodium matters. So much. If I have sodium tonight, tomorrow i'll be a pound or two heavier. Guaranteed. So... I won't way myself on days after having a lot of sodium. I'll wait to the next day where I had a simpler dinner, and i'll find that I lost weight (I don't believe the added weight from having too much sodium is anything more than short-term).
I would get very depressed when weighing myself and finding that i actually increased in weight... especially on a morning following a heavy work-out day. The day after I jogged 10 miles I put a pound on, because I had sodium that night. But... I eventually got the short-term benefit of the workout.
This diet, like most things worth doing in life, poses certain pyschological challenges. When the cravings kick in, you start to rationalize: Well, my life would be so much better and i'll enjoy my life more if i eat what i want and if people accept me for who I am. Bull! That is how we got fat in the first place. I'm at my goal weight, eating the same exact foods for 3 months straight (no variety, except for an occassional night of vodka on the rocks), and I can tell you that losing the weight is worth it.
Combine losing the weight with working out (which again, ain't easy), and you'll feel like a million bucks.
I always weigh first thing in the morning after going to the bathroom. I seem to weigh more during the day - I guess from the food and water and I also think maybe you retain some fluids during the day while your up and about.
Restarted January 17, 2009 @ 310.5 pounds; As of Sept 21, 2009 I am now 243 lbs!!!!!! 66.5 lbs GONE !!!!!!!!
SECOND GOAL 199;
THIRD GOAL 150!!!!!!!!!! (times undetermined)
I think someone posted that a pint of water weighs a pound so if you weigh immediately after drinking a couple of glasses of water you are bound to weigh more.
If you just cant resist getting on the scales several times a day why not treat it as an experiment and step on them many times but chart the time of day/what you ate/what you 'disposed of' (approximately) in your bathroom visits. Do this over a week to get to know how your body works.
Seeing in black and white on a chart that your body gets heavier and lighter throughout the day regularly as well as from day to day, and sometimes with no apparent reason might get you out of the trap of giving that scales number any power over your feelings about yourself.
