    Hey,
I know that the ratios are more of guidelines than perfect ratios but as a vegetarian I seem to have very low ratios of proteins (around 15%), and that is only because I eat these "veggeie burgers" which might be illegal. I don't eat eggs either and i'm on the veggie rung. What is a good protein source for me or should I rush to the berry rung? What would the lack of protein do anyways?

    couple of things here ...

    are you vegan?
    did you read the book?

there are lots of options for low carb eating plans tht do not involve the use of meat ..but for this one it is hard to do if you are vegan....I eat tons of veg meals and am not a big meat eater...

but I eat eggs cheese dairy nuts ect and fish and seafood (kind of pesca/lacto/ovo LOLOL)...during induction however I did eat all types of meat and seafood because you have to make sure things equal out in life if they are going to work ....

read the book if you haven't and also depending on what you want out of eating like this ..a lifetime plan or just quick fix ...you make your choices from there

good luck I hope this helps...

also if you want to ..post in the cooking chat a request for recipes for protien veggie meals ...lots of smart folks in there

Which "veggie" burgers are you eating? Are there actually veg or are they soy? Soy burger are good sourse of protein. What is the protein count on them? Do you eat any dairy?

check out our FAQ on doing Atkins vegetarian. The letter was from Dr Atkins medical practice based on how he was treating his vegetarian patients. Missy90 is our vegetarian expert if you PM her she can give you some info

but basically you can use the TVP products and tofu to add protein to your plan. you can also add protein with the protein powders many of us use a flour in baking. just make sure you get an ios one which is pure protein very low carb stuff.

Do you like soybean/edamame? They are a good source of protein. I dont know though if this is acceptable for your stage.

Morningstar farms and Wildwood make some decent products that are also low carb.
Edensoy black soy beans are very good and carry 11 gr of protein, 7 fiber and 2 carbs so 5 net for 1/2 c. I put these in my magic bullet heat on the stovetop add hot sauce and cheese and I have refried beans!
When you move up your rungs to pre-maintenance you can add Quinoa. High protein! High fiber!
Some days I just blend tofu with veggies and berries and I'm happy.
I omit meat about 4 times a week.
Make it a happy low carb life!
