Ok, I have a question. For the past month I have been putting off eating when I first wake up because I am out of school. I have been waiting until after I workout to eat, sometimes thats up to 4 hours after waking. Is this ok? It seems that I was doing better when i ate within a couple of hours of waking. What is the standard on when to eat upon waking up? Thanks!

The easy answer would be, eat when you are hungry.
However, my S/O is doing the diet as well and has never been a breakfast person. He generally doesn't eat until 11am, and that's lunch. He's had more success than my 3 square meals and 2 snacks woe.
But it all depends on the person. If you found you did better when eating something in the morning, try having something small quick and easy. Maybe make yourself a protein shake?

I personally cant eat until a few hours after waking which is when I will be at work. At the weekends I just eat when I'm hungry.
I think the general feeling is eat when ur hungry

Did Atkins on and off from Feb 2005 until April 2008. Fluctuated between 15 st 1/211lbs and 11 st 1/155lbs.
On different weightloss programme from 28th May 2008 start weight 14 st 11/207lbs.
Current weight 10st 3lbs/143lbs.

I agree with the eating when hungry throughout the rest of the day. But if we eat breakfast it helps jump start our metabolism. We've been sleeping all night, no food, and the body needs that fuel to work as efficiently as possible burning fat. Try to eat at least a little something in the mornings after you get up, it really helps the body get going.

I have found my weightloss to be more successful if I eat even a little something in the mornings. I have never been a huge breakfast person, but if I eat a hard boiled egg and maybe a small piece of celery it seems to really get my system runnin' for the day.

Eat when you're hungry, but try to eat within 3 hours of waking up. Your body has spent the night burning energy like an engine, so it needs some get-up-and-go to get you moving. Well, that's my opinion anyway!
I'm sure one of the mods will be by to give you the scientific lowdown!

Thanks for all the responses. I am going to start eating a little something upon waking so that my metabolism will get started for the day. If I only ate when I was hungry, I would never eat. I have absolutely no apetite, its been like this for over two months. I love this wol.Another day, in a new weigh!!!
