  • IHOP restaurant...be careful!

I POSTED THIS IN THE 14-DAY INDUCTION FORUM BUT THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE USEFUL HERE AS WELL.....

Went to IHOP for breakfast and intended to order a veggie omelet w/ cheese. Read the menu and saw something of the effect...
"we add pancake batter to our omelets for a fluffier omelet....". Maybe I'm delusional, but I am almost sure that is what I read. I kept pondering this after the waitress picked up the menus. Was going to ask to see a menu before I left, just to confirm...but I forgot. Ended up not eating until I got back home (I was afraid to at that point).
Am I losing my mind or has anyone else that have been to IHOP know about this or have read this on the menu?

Yep, we had this discussion in another thread. Did you ask them to make your omelette with just eggs? I'm sure they'd be willing to.

Nope you're not delusional. IHOP uses pancake batter in their omelettes, but you can ask them to leave it out. Actually, I'm happy they put that in their menues. For a long while they did not and so alot of low carbers were getting a higher carb meal than they thought.

The servers are usually unaware of this, so to avoid a long-winded explanation of the whole pancake batter thing, a dial-direct instruction for the scrambled eggs & omelets is the kitchen's own lingo: ask for COUNTRY EGGS. Say it twice. The server will look puzzled, but once the message is delivered to where it matters, you will eat only what you've ordered. No pancake batter!

MISSPHOBE...No, I didn't ask, I was short of running out of the restaurant screamin" in shock!!! I was so excited about going out to eat too! I was getting tired of cooking at home. Just drank decaf until my husband was finished eating and ate at home.
Thanks Sheila...didn't know what "country eggs" were but will say it in the future. Thanks all for the reassurance that my mind was still there!

To be totally sure, order fried eggs! Kinda hard to hide anything in them when they're sunny side up!
