  • Carb/Calorie cycling - Zig zag

In the past I have heard calorie cycling/zig-zag is helpful so your body doesn't get use to a standard amount of calories a day. Do you thing this is helpful in this way of eating? Maybe cycling carbs between your weekly limit?

    Day one: 21
    Day two: 24
    Day three: 20

Never heard of it being done on purpose like that. If you eat when you're hungry and stop when you're full, you are following DANDR. When working out every day, I would often be well over 2000 cals one day just to feed my hunger, under 1000 the next. But not on purpose. But I did lose lbs and inches pretty quickly.

As far as cycling carbs goes, I would think that would be counterproductive as you work up the rungs, because how would you determine your CCCL/ACE then? Maybe I don't understand what you're thinking of when you say "cycling carbs between your weekly limit" though?
What is it, a RACE? It's coming off, right????

Most of the time when I hear about carb cycling, it is more often between 20g and 300g and back to 20g. That method I think is only asking for trouble and the weight come back as you are trying a "trick" to lose weight as opposed a consistent way of eating. As for your plan with changing small amounts, I never played the diet that close where I would eat to a specific point (other than below 20g). I don't think the addition or subtraction of a few grams (less than 5) of carbs will matter greatly or prevent a stall -- if such things even occur due to plateaus of eating too few carbs. Just my opinion.

Dr Atkins deals with that in DANDR too and tells us we will lose the health benefits of doing atkins when we up the carbs beyond our CCLM.

If you just feed your hunger you will naturally be eating different amounts each day and never have a set in stone amount you are eating.
