  • Splurges!!

    Does anybody do a weekly or monthy "splurg". I'm not talking an all-out cheat or a binge. Just a little something like a low-carb ice cream bar (just ONE) or a low-carb candy bar (just ONE).

    nope I don't use food as a reward any more cause as a carboholic I know I would never be satisfied with just one.

      I do know what you mean about the "never being satisfied with just one". I have actually wanted an ice cream treat before, so I bought the box and immediatly threw 5 of the 6 bars down the drain so I wouldn't eat them. Yes, it's pricey and corny, but it saved me from over eating and I got my ONE ice cream. Oh well!

        I'll do it! I actually allow myself a low carb treat every once in a while and have found they don't cause any cravings...at least the 2 I've tried. The Dreyers low carb chocolate ice cream and sugar free Whole Fruit popsicles (although sometimes I DO want more than one of those if it's really hot out)

          I wouldn't call that a splurge. If it falls within your carb allotment and you're past induction I don't see a problem. Just don't go overboard with it. And if you stall that'd be the first thing I cut out. Just my 2 cents.

            I used to, and thats where I went wrong. Now I've gotten to the stage where I dont even crave sweet, carb loaded foods. Food used to be a priority for me, but not anymore

              rae-Marie have you seen the ziplock baggie icecream recipe you only make the amount you want at the time and you got to exercise to get it and no mythical counting noncounting carbs are in there.

                It's kind of a "splurg" for me just because it's stuff I don't normally eat. I'd stay within my carb range, it's just something out of the norm.

                No, I haven't seen it. I will search for it though. I am not trying to use food as a "reward" either - it's just a little something different/good every once and a while. Thanks for the info on the recipe!

                  we have a British mod that posts some decadant dessert recipes but again you will need to cut his stuff down to a single serving when making or you will be posting in the what legal food kills your Atkins topic about them LOL Meg's choclate legally made from cream and cocoa powder does me in every time. to the point those two ingredients are not allowed in my house at the same time.

                    I made flaxseed muffins the other day but only made a 1/4 of a batch. I would have eaten all 12 if I made them.

                          I splurge once a week on an A&W Diet Soda drink! It is so sweet that I usually
                          cannot drink the entire thing but it makes me feel like I am eating a dessert.
                          No, it does not make me crave anything else....if anything it makes me full(er).

                          I am at the point now that I can make a batch of cookies for my family and not
                          even crave one of them. It is a nice feeling...I guess that probably means I am
                          in ketosis (hope so anyway) I am 5 pounds away from goal.

                              LOL that is why I don't put any sweetners in my muffins.

                              Oh and if you had eatten all 12 aversion therapy would have conditoned you to never do that again. the effect of that much flax is very very moving.
