Ok, I have been buying pound blocks of cheese and then cutting them into 1 oz chunks. I would then store them in a ZipLock. I have been doing this because cheese is cheaper this way, and it's nice to have it premeasured so I know I am geting 1 ounce.
So I went to the store last night and I was thinking I would get a bag a shredded cheese for my salad. I grabbed a bag, same brand cheese I always use in block form, and for what ever reason I double checked the ingredients. I assumed it would be CHEESE but oh no, There's POTATO STARCH in it. I was shocked! So I looked at all of the other brands, and they too had potato starch in them.
It makes sense because without the starch the cheese would not stay seperated, but it really took me by suprise!
This may be common knowledge to everyone else but if not, I just wanted to let you guys know it's ALL ABOUT READING LABELS!!!
